| I have 3 Yorkies, 1 male Artie and 2 females Abigail and Pom Pom. I am not re-naming them but I do call them by different nicknames. I also call Artie w/c is pronounced Ottie since I got him when we lived in Boston, I call him Boy Boy or my Boy Friend, Abigail I also call her by Mama or Mamacita, I also call Pom Pom, Tiffany Aloha (AKC. Registered name) or Little Girl. My point is they come regardless of what I call them, I even call them in different Languages; Filipino, Spanish & Japanese. Yorkies are very smart and they learn quick. I was Lucky enough to meet a couple that had Yorkies and they told me that they are capable of learning and remembering up to 250 words, another reason why I was impressed by the Breed. I also believe that they feel your energy in your Voice and that's what they respond to. |

my sister adopted a rescue dog that had been called "Babbet" for six years and she wanted to change her name to "Roxy" and as much as they tried she wouldnt respond to it. Even tried combining both the names...

![]() What she said ^. And Bella even seemed to know her NEW name within in a day or two. I thought it would take longer.

| We adopted Camden at almost 2 1/2 yrs old and gave her that name! Supposedly her name was Muffin/Muffy, but considering where she came from, I don't think she really had a name. She knows her name is Camden though! We call her Cammy for short, but she generally comes to us even if we are calling the other two!

| Hi, I have a little female yorkie Dixie who is almost 6 months old. When I went and picked her up my twin daughters ended up purchaseing a little male, Teddy, who is two weeks younger from the same breeder. When they were about four months old we adopted a 10 month old little yorkie, Maxie from some people who had lost thier job and could not take care of him anymore. I think there were some other personal problems as well but we are lucky in that he was a $1000.00 pure bred little yorkie who was well taken care of, neutered, utd on all shots, microchipped and a wonderful, loving little dog who has blended so well with our other two. They are like the three little musketeers running all over the back yard, sleep together and play together all day. At first I thought my twin daughters might change his name but then they decided not to and so we did not. He has done wonderfully. I think it is possible to change thier name, my suggestion would be to use his old name maybe together with the new one for awhile and then gradually dropping the old name. Let us know how it works and congragulations to you on your new baby! |
