these were the items on the bill, milu also had some of her baby teeth pulled, but i don't see anything about that listed. the dewclaw was because when i took her to the groomer, the groomer informed me that one dewclaw was still growing nails, the groomer said it's not a big deal, but i just asked the vet to do whatever he thinks is the best. (and i guess removing it is better?) i hope this was a good decision, to have the remaining dewclaw removed, and i hope this is not going to cause milu too much pain.

i was also a little tiny bit sad when they weighed milu before the surgery today. she was 2.6 lbs, she lost 0.1 lbs? i don't know why? i mean, she's been eating fine, and i have been trying to fatten her up in preparation for her spay surgery, but i guess i didn't do as well as i had hoped...

Oh, I glad everything went well, and you got the teeth removed, and the dewclaws. You don't want to put these little ones under, if you don't have to, and getting it all done in one shot is best. From what I've read, they have more trouble recovering from the dewclaw removal than from spaying, but people who have said that their older dogs got their dewclaws caught on something, and ripped them, really recommend their removal. Hopefully she will be feeling better tomorrow. Some do have a few set backs with potty training, but you need not worry about this. Stay in touch with your doctor, and don't be afraid to ask him any questions regarding food, and symptoms she might be experiencing. Let us know how she's doing tomorrow.

Milu is doing ok i think. Well, she is still not really moving, and she hasn't gone to the bathroom, but she ate when I gave her nutrical, and she also ate some of her raw food when i fed her.

She has pain medication, and i will be giving that to her starting tmw. i don't even know how i am going to get her to take that!? it's a little pill that splits in half, but then i am supposed to try to cut it in half again. ( i think i might have to wrap the medicine in cheess in order for her to take it. i hope she doesn't just eat the cheess and spit out the pill!) and i know she is going to hate the clavamox drops. she had that before, and she HATES it. (sorry milu, but i have to do it!)

i was just a little disappointed with the weight thing because after you told me about nature's variety. milu was doing so well on the raw diet, she ate everyday happily. i didn't have to force her or bribe her, it was so wonderful! so i was really excited and i was guessing daily what her weight would be at our next vet visit. i thought it was going to be like 2.9 or 3.1 because she didn't seem so bony anymore. so i was really surprised that she had lost weight. how did that happen but i am sure it's ok, she is healthy and she is my sweetheart

i talked to my friend who just had a baby recently, and he was telling me how cute the baby was, and i also kept telling him how cute my milu is!

thank you for telling me about the dewclaws. i can't believe that it's harder to recover from than the spay surgery though. now i feel extra bad for milu, i mean, if i knew that, than maybe i would reconsider removing it. oh well, it's done now, and it's better to do it now instead of at a separate time like you mentioned.

she is still really quiet and not moving much, i can't wait till she feels better and give me kisses and cuddles! it's so strange to see her like this.

I am surprised the vet didn't cut it to the size you needed. Our chi was just spayed and hers did. One way we got the pill down her was to coat it in nutracal. They love the taste of it. Hubby opened her mouth and I put it to the back of the mouth. One day it took a couple of tries but after that she accepted it pretty good. We then gave her a little more nutracal.

How is the baby feeling today ?

They will often weigh a bit less before surgery bc they've had no food/water too, so try not to worry too much. As long as her body "feels" right - not too cushy, not too bony - she is probably the right weight for now. I always go by my guys' ribs - they should feel not too "buried" and not too prominent. Also, the little ones (like my Marcel) often have little growth spurts later too - so she may still put on a little weight yet.

milu is feeling better today, still not as active as i had hoped, but definitely better than yesterday. so i am super happy!

plus i took her back to the vet this morning, because i wanted him to look at her to make sure her stitches looked ok, and vet said everything looked fine.

so i am a VERY happy mama today!

I mean, i don't mind if milu wants to stay a tiny baby, i was just concerned that she would be unhealthy. because people always say, small size dogs = health problems. well, at least it seemed like a lot of people say that.
but i am sure if small size is going to make her unhealthy, me making her a FAT small dog is not going to solve the problem! so i will just relax more about the feeding and the weight

My Daizy was groggy the first whole day after surgery.....we had pain medicine for several days and that really helped!!! Hope your precious is doing ok! Pretty soon this will all be a memory!!!
