YorkieTalk Newbie! | Help... My Yorkie is about 6 months old and he goes into his crate fine during the day while I am at work. We play with him all night and then when we go to bed he will not sleep. We are up all night. He barks and pees/poops during the night. During the day he holds his bowels in the crate and is potty trained in the evening. He thinks day is night and night is day. Any suggestions on how to fix this. He will not go into the crate at night. We love him to death but it is wearing us thin. This is all new to us. Let me know if you have any tricks. Thanks! Krystal |

| Where does he sleep at night when he does sleep? Have you tried putting him in bed with you. My puppy does the same thing but she has been sleeping in bed with us and now sleeps for most of the night and wakes up only once or twice. Maybe he just wants to be close to you, as all dogs do. |

YorkieTalk Newbie! | He started sleeping with us at night right away and actually still does some of the night. But he now jumps off the bed and plays with his bones eats and drinks. Last night we took his food/water away and I only got up 1 time. So maybe that will help. He is always good on the weekends. |

| I think you need to do what works for you. We had to throw out the books and just figure out what worked for Gizmo. Every yorkie is different, so don't be afraid to try new things. I agree that he might want to be close to you every chance he can get since he's away from you all day. Gizmo also sleeps with us and uses a pottie pad at night, so it's a little unfair to compare how we do things to how you do. It's not all wonderful all the time though since when he gets frustrated and wants me to wake up and play, he will often decide to sit on my head and stand on my back. But I also love having him snuggle next to me at night. We've discovered that he likes to play really hard before bed and then he sleeps better and for longer periods of time. He also has access to a window he can look out if he gets bored during the night, and I think that helps too.
