| Boarding Question My girlfriend and I were spending the weekend in Santa Monica, California this past weekend. I looked online and found a place called Heavenly Pet Resort. Reviews were great, place was great. Desi really didn't want to stay, other dogs there were barking and it was kinda loud. He doesn't do well with lots of barking from other dogs (he's not a barker). But when we picked him up and got him in he car, he was acting like he hadn't had water in days. I took his water bowl out and poured some of my bottled water in it and he drank it all. So I poured some more and he drank that. So I just decided to pour the rest of my water (it was a little more than half full) and he drank it all. Desi is only a 4 lbs. dog and drank more than a half bottle of water. I'm wondering if they didn't give him water? Then on the drive home I was thinking about it and remembered I only saw water bottles (like what are in rabbit cages) and I don't know if Desi would know how to get water out of a bottle? But then again, I'm sure he could smell the water and would try licking it ... right? Did my baby go 2 days with no water? |

| I bet he did because he didnt know how to drink out of a water bottle. Dogs have to get used to drinking it that way

| I specifically packed his water bowl and his food bowl and told the girl at the check-in desk that the small bowl was for food and the big bowl was for water. I'm going to call them this afternoon and ask why they didn't put his water bowl in his room. |

| Thanks, I will def. be giving them a call this afternoon. I hate leaving him places when we're gone and this makes it even worse! We are moving into a townhouse with a friend of ours, so from now on when we're out of town, he won't have to be boarded. He'll be able to stay home with our friend. |

| That is good. Not all boarding experiences are bad though but I like a family member watching mine. I have boarded mine in the past also but now my Son watches them.

| That is very scary to think that your baby did not have any water for two days Any longer w/o it he could have got very ill or even died. IF you ever plan A trip back to Californa, I'd be happy to Doggie sit . As long as he is fixed .

How far are you from the Pasadena area? That's normally where we stay. And we are getting Desi fixed really soon! Arizona has a free spay/neuter program that was just established 18 months ago. So we've decided to get him fixed so he'll stop marking up our house! | |

♥ love my girls!! ♥ Donating Member | Oooooo, I heard about that place...Yorkie Camp! Sounds sooo nice!! I would never want to board my baby and would beg, borrow, and steal to not have to. When my boyfriend and I went to KS City, we took her 20 minutes (40 minutes round trip) to my co-worker's house so her 15 yr. old daughter--lover of all animals!!--could watch her. Buuuuttt, if I lived near that place, I don't think I'd be worried to leave her. It looks like they are loved and very taken care of while they stay! |
