Senior Yorkie Talker | Loosing teeth? Well Gwen turned 19 weeks old yesterday, and today after she'd been playing for a bit I picked her up and looked at her teeth and she's lost three of them! The two in the very middle on the top and one under those on the bottom. I never really noticed what order my other dogs (all much bigger than she is) lost their teeth in but I thought they got new canines first.....Is she loosing them normally? She doesn't act like her mouth is hurting or anything and she is gnawing on her toys and stuff just like normal but I was just like "OMG! What happened to your mouth?" I have noticed there was more of a gap between her teeth like her adult teeth were maybe trying to think about coming out but yesterday she had all her teeth! (There does appear to be little white nubs in the upper holes but the bottom one looked like it had just fallen out when I looked). So I'm assuming she's ok since she's her normally bossy little self but I was just concerned about the pattern she was losing them in.....Thanks! Also I've heard about them retaining their puppy teeth, I was wondering which ones they normally retain so I can keep an eye out. Thanks again.

| BabyTeeth Her baby teeth coming out before the adult ones coming in is good. You will see the adult ones coming in real soon. The baby teeth that stay in too long and have to be pulled are more often the longer teeth on top and bottom (1 on each side on the top and 1 on each side on the bottom.) If these baby ones don't fall out by about 7 months, have the vet look at them to see if they need removed. If they retain the baby teeth, they are more likely to have dental tartar and their teeth will get dirty quicker. |

| Fiona has lost ALL of her baby teeth except for her upper k9 tooth. they are growing in as fast as they are falling out. as soon as she turned 5 months old, she lost 3 teeth that day! i have never been able to see my dogs baby teeth before, and with fiona i could tell when she was trying to get them loose. a majority of puppies will swollow them! |

| I have had both scenarios....Tara 4lbs....8 yrs ago retained all her teeth and I got them removed under anaesthetic....my other two Casper and Tammy I bought older, Tammy needing teeth removed as she was uncared for, Casper has beautiful teeth. I got Corky as a pup and he is now 8 months....he has lost all his baby teeth except his 2 top k9s which are wedged firm with the new adult teeth, so they will probably have to be taken out.... I think the tinnies retain more often than the standards do...Corky is standard. They do really suffer for 24 hours after the surgery, but after that you wouldn't know they had anything wrong.
