| HELP new puppy I just picked up my new puppy today and my 18 month old grandson who was in from Florida and who was being watched by my duaghterinlaws aunt was injured and requires emergency surgery tomorrow morning at a hospital that is 1 hour away! The Coast Guard even flew my son(his daddy) home from Florida. Now you know I have to be there for my son so how long can these little ones be left alone? She is 4 months old 1 & half lbs and has never had any hypoglycemia episodes. My neice is the only family member not going so how often should she check on her??? I want to be happy & now I'm a mess! She's really cute but Lexi & Max don't like her yet, its all too new. Also she came with her ears taped and she keeps scatching at only one, could she have ear mites or is the tape jus bugging her? |

| Well............ If I was in your situation, I would put her in the bathroom (easier to clean the floors), and put some newspaper in there for messes, and her food and water (won't hurt to have it all day), and make sure you put some blankets and stuff in there to make her cozy. Make sure you put everything up though. If you have a big kennel, that works great too! Praying for your grandson. How scary. You DEFINATELY need to be there for your son and his family. God'll take care of your baby. About the ears, I never heard of a breeder actually taping their ears. Did they snip her ears to get them to stand? Or just taped? Let us know how she does and also how your grandson is doing. God'll take care of you. :-) God bless, Heather |

| Agree.......... that it's probably just the tape on the itching part. How long has the tape been on? If it was done right before coming home with you, she's not used to it yet. Good luck! |

| The breeder said she just put the tape on this morming but to leave it on for a couple of days because of the stress of traveling. I'm just so worried about leaving her because it is going to be a 4 hour surgery & 2 hour traveling time so do yo think my neice (who is 20 years old) should check on her every hour or 2 or is that too long. Thanks everyone for your quick response. I don't know what I'd do without this place at a time like this! |

| I am so sorry to hear about your family, I hope all is ok soon in the mean time your little yorkie baby is too young and to slight of weight to be left overnight or long periods of time, as a precaution I suggest talking with the breeder ask if she will take her for a day or two while you handle your emergency or have her kenneled with your vet. | Great idea!!!! I breed yorkies, and I would definately take her back for that short period of time. Your breeder should completely understand. |

| My Coco stays home for 8 hours a day while I'm at work and she has been doing that since I got her at 9 weeks old. These little ones are stronger than we think. It's all about how they are raised. If they are raised to be alone for a while, they do fine. Just leave her lots of food, water, NOT newspapers, but puppy pads (the ink isn't good for them), and the bed and non destructable toys. Your baby will be fine don't you worry. Just get to your family.

| vainchick I hate to disagree with you, She just picked up her puppy today, this poor little thing doesnt know where she is and who she is with right now, not a good idea to leave her unattended for any length of time if you dont have to!

| I also think you should see if the breeder could take her for a short time. There she would be used to the surroundings and you wouldn't have to worry. She could get very stressed out being left alone in an unfamilar place...having only been with you for a day. Good luck and I hope your grandson does well with his surgery! I'll say a prayer! Keep us posted! |

| Hi everyone, thought I'd update you & thank you so much for being here when I needed you all & especially for the prayers. Well we left our house at 6:45am on thursday & my neice came over & spent about 15 minutes with Tia, Lexi & Max at 8:30am, 10:30am & 12:30am and we got home about 2:00pm so she did really well but was really excited when she saw me. As far as my grandson, he was being watched by my daughter in laws aunt and was only there for half an hour when she ran over his hand with the vacumm cleaner!!!!! and caused a huge 3rd degree burn on his tiny little hand so he had to be rushed to the burn center and a hand specialist had to be called in to operate because they feared tendon & nerve damage because he didn't even cry because he couldn't feel it!! They had to make a huge incision in his groin to take donor tissue to graft to his hand and now we won't know until Tuesday if it took and if not he has to go thru it all again! They even have to put him under conscious sedation 2 more times to remove both sets of stitches but thank God they feel he will have full use of his fingers. This poor little guy. My son has such a temper I feared he would go after this aunt because he was sooo mad. She was very careless and we still don't know how she could have done it but we are thru the worst! The burn center said they see this all the time so for anyone with small children or grandchildren, please warn them about the dangers of kids & vacumm cleaners! Sorry for being so long! |

| Oh yeah, her ears had a yeast infection and they are both down now anyway. I had her to the vet today and hopefully I'll have pictures soon to send. She is adorable! |

| Oh my God, the poor little guy! I pray that he will have a speedy recovery with no complications resulting with full use of all of his fingers and his hand. I never heard of that happening before. You have to give the little ones so much credit, they usually handle it like troopers. How is your new puppy? Please keep us updated on both of them. |
