I would strongly suggest starting to groom your sweet boy by yourself. It is the perfect time to begin, as you wont be trimming too much hair for quite awhile as she cut him so short. I have been doing it all summer, and now that he's growing out a bit, I feel confident because I was able to "practice" all summer.

Anyway, your baby is gorgeous!! Think of it this way- he might get cold at night so you can buy him all sorts of FANTASTIC GoFetch jammies!!!!
lol.. you know I do need to get him some pjs... lol Thanks

Then she tells me that I need to take him to the vet from now on and have him sedated to be groomed because he is to afraid of the clippers and scissors. I don't know what to do now. He is only 6 1/2 months old and I have had him groomed 3 times already. He is such a sweet puppy but he is so afraid of being groomed. I thought that if I started him out young and let the professionals do it that he would be alright but boy was I so wrong. I am just so sick. Any suggestions on what to do about grooming now? I am just at a complete loss.

The first pic is a week ago and the second is now.

he's still just adorable !! I think we've all been there with the bad groomer thing but he really looks cute. The suggestion to do it your own self is a good one if he's so scared....poor baby - do you think a groomer was too rough or he just doesn't like it period ? Was he scared the other times ?....cause if not - then it was THIS groomer who got him scared....and that is not good at all.

I do my own girls after having a bad experience a few years ago ...they don't look as good as a pro would have them look ....but at least I dont have to leave them with strangers not knowing what's happening.

Animal Smiley 049 Groomers

some times a groomer and a dog/puppy don't get along. I don't believe a dog needs to be sedated to be groomed. I have had two very wonderful groomers in the past and on some dogs it just take time a patience. I had tried to groom my dogs myself but just can't get the hang of it. Maybe you know of someone else that has their dogs groomed elsewhere and you can try them. I will say a young puppy sometimes gets upset the first few time groomed. My Zoey was sick for two day's afterwards her first time. I told this to my groomer and she made sure she took special care of her the next time. and she did just great the 2nd time around.

I think with that ADORABLE expression on Lucky's face no haircut can take that away! What a doll. You seemed to have been very good at brushing him, from the before picture, so you will probably be super good at learning to trim him yourself. With a face like that, it can cover a multitude of short haircuts. Bless his little heart, he looks soooo sweet.

Yes he has always been afraid. I think it is the noise that scares him but this girl used to be a behavior trainer and she would work with him and take her time. The first 2 times I watched her groom him and she was so patient. He would start moving and she would hold the clippers next to him and talk to him and he would calm down after a little bit. This time my friend went with me and we went to eat and shop while he was getting done so I don't know.

ps....When my Chanel had a really BAD groom - I didn't stop laughing for a week -

everytime I looked at her all I could think of was that she was 'Sampson the Lion's distant cousin that no one talked about

She had all this long head and face hair and short short body hair.....

When she had that cut - she thought she was ALL that and a bag of chips - she had no clue she looked hilarious ...when I laughed - she would puff out her chest like she really WAS all that -- (and I laughed ALOT that first week getting used to it)

I bet he loves his new 'do' now that it's over - and on the upside for you - you don't have to brush him everyday right ???

You described him to a t. Lots of hair on the face and short everywhere else. It is funny in a way. He looks so much smaller.

There is no way anybody could make that precious baby look bad. He is just adorable. You know, I think often times we all are more particular about the way our babies hair is cut than we we are our own. True? Bernie and Baxter are scared to death of the clippers, so . I never have taken them to a groomer. I hear too many bad experiences from other unsatisfied mommies just like you. Every time I brush Bernie and Baxter, I pull out the scissors and trim this and that....then I'll see something I don't like when they walk by and snip it! Maybe oneday it will come to needing a groomer, but right now. NO WAY! You can do it! Try it next time.

You are so right we do think more about our babies than ourselves. They are so precious though. Lucky is always here for me. He's my little shadow.

Well, first off, I want to say, he is adorable either way! I know you're upset - I would be too. I groom my Zoe and I would recommend that for now at least. That way, you can get him used to it and then if you need to take him in the future, it won't be as difficult. You won't need to trim him right now so all you'll need to really worry about is bathing and brushing for awhile and hopefully you will make him more comfortable and you might decide you like doing it and if not, it will give you time to find a better groomer. Sorry this happened to you.....
