Some people are not dog lovers. My girlfriend had the cutest dog- Gizmo, can't remember the breed- the dog in As Good As it Gets- anyway, her dog barked when she was out and a few people complained to the homeowner's association. She did not do anything- thinking what can I do? and someone gave the dog antifreeze in food while the puppy was in her back yard. It was the most horrible thing imagineable. Please be careful. Some people are not normal! She has never gotten over it.

Try to make as many friends as you can, and win the neighborhood over. They will eventualy get used to the barking dogs. I have a neighbor that always yells " CHAT THAT DOG UP". trixie's barks are very soft and playful, and I know this person is the only one annoyed by it. Therefore, I pretend I dont hear her yelling. I get out of the house, with a big smile and say good morning neighbor!! the past few days, she is being talking, to me in a very friendly way, and she hasnt yell in four days!!

I put a soft rock station on the radio when we leave the house for Conner. It drowns out some of the outside noise. We don't have to worry about neighbors because they are a distance away, but I think it is more comfortable for him because it allows him to sleep and not to hear the outside noise so much (especially when the garbage man comes on Thursdays).

Hey I wanted to throw something in on why its possible they did not leave a name....I had a neighbor's dog come over every Wednesday and dig in my trash (trash day), I asked the kid if he could keep his dog in the house for at least 2 hours until the trash people came around. Nope didn't so one day while I was out picking up the trash this little terror pulled out I decided to go to their house....long story ......they were not home so I wrote a note with my name and address and said please I have asked your son to keep the dog put up during trash day and still your dog comes over and gets in it. I am allowing you the chance to fix it or I will call the dog warden. Next day, she comes down and tells me I am not mother of the year and her son makes all Bs in class. I have no idea why she spoke of her son, when I had the problem with the dog. Then she goes down my drive way after I tell her I am not playing nor will I take her crap and calls me all kinds of names. So its possible the person who sent you the letter just did not want to deal with reactions stemming from your dogs. Which I can see that it is possible that you would have been offended.

omg... thats nothing... at least they gave you the courtesy of a UNFILED complaint. I have 2 filed complaints on my record for my dogs barking from a neighbor who didnt even bother to ask me first (even if it was by anonymous note). Id rather have that than a letter from my condo association saying "one more time and you have 3 days to remove them from the property". Now THAT'S rude!

I was going to say that! My boys BARK at that channel, I could never leave it on! But I do leave on a radio soft enough to not annoy the neighbors, loud enough to drown out some outside noise. I also talked to my immediate neighbor (who is the complex busybody) and told her about the letters that someone complained about my dogs and how bad I felt and how I was working so hard with them to stop doing that. I knew that she'd find out who did it and relay my message. I also asked her to tell me if there are certain triggers she notices that make my dogs bark. Everyday at 330 the kids get home school and the dogs bark for a 1/2 hour she says, but other than that, they are pretty good. No more complaints in 1.5 years so I hope Im doing ok with them.

Pooky, in the first video, was actually pretty good, and daddy was training him to bark, Joey more like the other dog, and he'll see a dog on tv, and run to the door barking. He needed no training for this.

I was so into the barking, that I didn't noticed he was being trained. I still think they all bark when they hear a bark on tv, because, trixie always does. I just can't catch her on video.
