Well, I was a teenager my dad got a full blooded yorkie from a local shelter. I will never forget him.....his name was Skittles. I have never forgotten how cute and adoreable he was and now at the age of 32 my fiance remembered me saying that and bought me one of my own for my birthday.....thus the name Bailey Louise . She is cute and precious in every single way and all I could have ever dreamed of. I am new to the forum and read the forums every day; however this is my first post. Thanks for having my Bailey and me here

One of my friends has a yorkie and he's such a little cutie, so of course after meeting him I decided I wanted a yorkie. I started to do research and planned on when I got my own house I would get one. Funny thing, last week my friend sent me a picture of her yorkie, the one that made me fall in love with them, and he looks exactly like an older version of Rocky, same facial expressions and everything!

Love

Growing up we always had dogs (not yorkies) so I new that one day I would want a dog of my own. I'd always liked the 'look' of yorkies but knew little about them and also used to work long hours away from home. I started researching the breed properly once I was working from home and having a dog was a practical idea. The more* I read the more I fell in love with them! I wanted a companion, full of personality who I could pamper and spoil......yorkies ticked all the boxes!! I've only had Twinkle for a little over a week but she's already become our 'third child' and is such a character! I've rambled a bit but basically: it's the looks that attracted me but the personality that made me fall in lovexxx

Growing up I never really had any "real" pets because my mother doesn't care for animals. I like cats but my husband and dad are super allergic and I like dogs but I never wanted a stinky, slobbery big dog. As a teenager my friend had a Yorkie named Toby who I loved. He was little and cute (and super old but that's beside the point) so when I decided I absolutely wanted a pet, a Yorkie it was. I love that Yorkies stay the size of a puppy and that they are absolutely adorable. I love Tucker with my whole being and having him has given me a greater appreciation for all dogs...even the stinky, slobbery big ones!

Default I was forced

My husband and my daughter forced getting a yorkie upon me. after having our dachsund Frank E Footer for 14 years, I seriously did not want to raise another dog. It had been 5 years since frank passed and my daughter and my husband saw little Bella. My daughter called me and pleaded, I adamantly refused, another call, another plead, "no" again. Then she sent me a cell phone picture. OMG what a cute puff she was. But I had to play the tough Mom, I said whatever but I am not responsible for her care, like I was with Frank. Well they walked in the door with her and I fell in love. And the only things I don't do is walk her. My husband and daughter do this ( I am handicapped and have a hard time walking). And picking up her little poopy accidents when they occur (their job also). She is my baby. And I am working on saving for one more. They are definetly precious and precocious little ones.

I first fell in love ith Yorkies when I was 6 yers old. I was on holiday with my family and I met a Yorkie girl on the beach and well, it was love at first sight for me! lol My family have always had larger breeds so I have had other big dogs in my life, but I have always loved small breeds, and in fact got my first Chihuahua just two and a half years ago after I moved out and didn't have to go by my family prefences. It was only when I was thinking about getting a second in the last few months that I started looking at other toy breeds, and suddenly all this love for the Yokshire Terrier came rushing out! I think I had quite forgotten it all, but not any more! lol I simply cannot wait to get my little Yorkie girl!

I always like the breed but never really gave it much thought until last christmas. My mother inlaw just had lost her second husband and she was going through a really hard time so my husband and I asked her if we could get a dog for her for christmas and she said yes. However it had to be a female and small. So we were on the hunt for a little female we decided to check our local humane society. we couldn't of been luckier there she was a beautiful little female Yorkie. I fell in love with her immediately. I told my husband that I wanted her. But I ment for me he misunderstood me and as soon as we walked out he called his mom and told her we got a surprise for her. I was heart broken but I knew She would be perfect for his mom. I got to spend one night with her I gave her a bath and played with her and I felt a connection with that little dog more any dog I have ever owned I gave her up and cryed and cryed! However his mother was so happy It completely brought her out of her depression and we were so happy for that it was the best christmas ever because my husband went on a hunt for me and found me my little molly from a local breeder however molly fell in love with him. Bummer for me I cryed again. So we both went on hunt and found me my little abby and she my liittle sweety !! My mominlaw named her dog sunshine because she brought so much sunshine in her life! Sorry for such along storie

I had always liked their look. I was always a cat person for the size, etc. Then I went to a client's house, and her Yorkie laid on my lap and fell asleep. I was sold right away. I like the fact that they don't shed and don't smell like dogs. I also like the terrier personality.

I had Duster, a little 3lb. Maltese for about 10 years and when I lost her I couldn't bring myself to get another dog. 6 months after I lost Duster, we lost my mom. I was very depressed. After we lost my mom, my dad sold the house and bought a motorhome, felt like I was losing my dad too. Well, right before we lost my mom, dad was
thinking of getting a dog. He finally did and he got a Yorkie. I fell in love with Jaa Arr. So after about a year I decided I was ready for a dog. So, of course I got a Yorkie. After having Pepper for just a few days, I wondered how I ever lived without him in my life.

Hope my rambling makes some sense.

When I first went on my puppy search and research it was all about the Yorkie than I start reading about the beautiful Maltese and fell in love also. So things did not work out getting the Maltese I wanted so I decided to wait. Before this I joined Yorkie talk only to learn more about Yorkies and wow I fell in love all over again. Than a YT member on here knew I was still looking for a puppy and told me about Ms.Helen of Nolen Yorkies and I saw Poppy on her puppy page and knew he was the one for me, and one thing I looked for is how the breeder communcated and Ms.Helen is excellent so that is what made me decide to get a Yorkie, it was destined to be

I always thought Yorkies were a cute breed, but I probably wouldnt have got one because of their health issues and difficulty house training them, plus I already had two dogs. Ds and his fiance bought Cinnamon from a pet store when they were at college (she was definitely a puppy mill dog)and when I first met her, I fell in love with her. Their relationship unfortunately was on and off and their housing situations changed several times so she ended up spending alot of time at my house (kind of doggy day care). For about a year and a half she kind of went between our two homes and it would kill me each time she had to go back with them. They loved her dearly but just didnt have the resources to take care of her. They finally broke up and my son couldnt keep her on his own...she is way to high maintenance and I ended up with her. Sorry, long story bu the truth

I told my hubby I had a big hole in my heart that needed filling with a small dog. I love animals. I wanted a small one I could pick up easily cause of health issues. I researched poodles and a couple of other breeds. Then we saw a yorkie at a booth of a breeder at a flea market. My hubby told my son in law to go ask a lot of questions. LOL He kept sending him back with questions. Hubby said he liked the answers and we could get one. We did not get one out of the next litter (though dtr did and it is great). I found a breeder in the paper and got Gypsy.

I am disabled and went through quite a bit to be approved in my housing complex to have a dog. When I was given the ok, and even before that I researched different breeds over the internet. I was looking for a small dog that would be happy in a 2 bedroom townhouse. I really like the breed Shi tz too. ANd then i came accroos the Yorkshire Terrier. I kept going back and forth. Each had certain health issues pertaining to the specific breed . I thought a Maltese was beautiful too.
The yorkie puppy face looked so much like a live teddy bear to me. that I just could not ignore. I first went to a super adoption day that was far away from where I lived. By the time I got there, all the few puupies were taken. I wrote some phone numbers down and started calling about puppies. One breeder was in the other direction, and she only had one Baby girl. It was reasonable priced for a yorkie. It took me anther few hours to get there, and she was holding this Baby. It was unbelieable. She was oerfect in ever way, and looked so incrediblly cute. I never had seen a yorkie puppy in real life before. AND then, at that moment became hooked for life.
