| We had the exact same problem with Lexi. Persistence is how it was corrected. The first night she jumped up on the bed some 5 times. Each time we picked her up, put her on the floor and gave her a gentle nudge towards her bed which is on the floor next to my side of the bed. The 5th time she went to her bed and stayed there. This went on for 3 nights. On the 4th night she went directly to her bed and she has done this ever since. It's been about 4 months now. In the morning she jumps up to say good morning and we allow this. Don't want to take all of her, and our pleasures away. Keep on it. They're smart and stubborn. You have to be more stubborn and more persistent and you'll win. Good luck! |

| When we were on vacation it was one of my fears that Pita would drive my mother in law nuts cuz she(mominlaw) didn't want Pita in the bed with her, which is fine, she's not a dog freak like me... We took Pita's lil bed there and she slept in it every night! no questions asked! I guess they will do what's expected of them... |

| Donating YT 10K Club Member | Maximus has certainly decided that you belong to him Trace was sleeping with us, now he sleeps in his crate in our room. He is allowed back in the bed with me after he goes potty outside. He has this routine so down pat that when my husband brings him back inside, he immediately runs back to the bedroom and waits by the bed for him to pick him up (he's too small to get up by himself). Since it sounds like you never crated Maximus, before putting him in there for an extended period of time, I suggest doing several small stints during the day in an attempt to get him used to it. You'll be surprised how much he'll decide he likes his crate. If we open his crate and tell him to get in.....he goes and even goes in it by himself to nap. Good luck

| Oh My!! I never thought of this (which really says a lot about me)! Maybe you could put Maximus in a playpen by your bed so he can see you? I think the best bet is to take the advice of everyone that has posted and experiment. I suppose one day I'll need a plan for this won't I? Let's hope so........ |

| My husband has had a BIG no Esme on the bed rule since day one. She is allowed EVERYWHERE and ANYWHERE except for our bed. I kind of am sad that I can't sleep with her, but at the same time, when him and I are doing our stuff she doesn't bother us. She goes to her own little bed beside our bed and stays there, which is good. Also, we have a really HIGH sleigh bed so even if she wanted to, which she has never tried, I don't think she would be able to get up there... so maybe a new taller bed is the answer?

| I am sorry. Maybe you could have Maximus sleep in a little bed beside your bed for a while and sneak him back in bed after your BF cools off. Good luck!

| Oh wow Sam thats a tuffy... he has been in his crate before right? This is one of the reasons why everyone told me not accustom him to sleeping in my bed.. one reason small bed... second reason ... if decide to have a VISITOR it would be a huge prob but for the past 2 nites or 3 he has been waking me up by banging his crate door. and i would go check on him and eventually take him out and place him on my bed.. and boy does he make himself comfy .. he lays out spread eagale (sp) but i leave him there for about 20 mins then off to his crate he goes... are u gonna try the crating tonite??

| I don't know...I am thinking that I will bring his crate into the bedroom and put him in it with a treat...then try to go to sleep so that at least he is in the same room with me. No I have never crate trained him.....he has a crate and he goes in there as he pleases but I only lock the door when I am mopping and he gets a treat while I do that. He was baby gated and he potty trained quickly so I didn't see the need....but he is a climber/jumper I swear he can jump like 2 feet and climb the other foot...I am just confised...I am debating the playpen thing!!!

| oh dear.... its gonna be a huge adjustment for Max... but the sooner u do it the better! let us know how things go.. u know waht i just remembered when i first got chicle i was told that i should crate him but place him somewhere he wont be able to see you... he can hear you but he must not see you b/c then he will try to get ur attention even more. so i placed Chicle's crate down the hall outside my bedroom .. he would cry and then i would say GO TO BED/SLEEP in a stern voice and i would have to do that acouple of times and he eventually got it .. i hope that works for you. try it. cant hurt.

| You might not want to do the playpen if he is a climber/jumper. Unless you turn it upside down. That's what we did with one of our previous dogs. Does he have a cuddly stuffed animal? When Brody doesn't sleep on my bed, he will sleep on my dirty clothes or clean clothes (depending on the day) that are on my futon. He makes a little nest. You might throw one of your sweatshirts or something in there for him.

| Wow we are in the same boat!! Brett and i have noooo love life anymore because of Bentley. He HAS to sleep in the bed in between both of us..and if we kiss..ohhhhhh heaven forbid!! Bentley will get right in the middle and look at you like "Hey where is my kiss" I dont know what to do tho..i feel like he should sleep in the bed..so i dont think it's fair to make him sleep somewhere else since that's all he's known!!

| I think you better start crating him....slowly, like others have said. I definetly wouldn't reward him and punish your bf by sleeping with Maximum in the LR. I had a dog once and thought it was the cutest thing how he would growl if anyone tried to take him off of my lap. You know, it makes you feel kind of special. I corrected his behavior shortly after hearing of someone being bitten pretty vicously due to the same thing. What Maximus did was very bad behavior (going beyond growing to biting the face) and needs corrected right away. (I did post about this a while back). It seems cute at the time, but won't be cute at all later. Like when a small child swears and something about that makes you want to laugh, however, if they do it when they get bigger, it isn't funny at all. Good luck! Hope your bf doesn't hold it against Maximus for too long. |

| I have the same problem but instead of biting she(Princess) just wants to join us. And I try to put her on the floor but she can jump on the bed. So it just makes the moment kinda fade when I am constantly putting her on the floor. So I know how you feel. I hate to here them whine but its coming to that point.
