| ![]() People who want a free dog need to know, there IS NO SUCH THING! If you can't afford the initial cost, you more than likely can't afford what follows: shots, neutering/spaying, tick & heart worm meds, food, toys, etc.... My vet told me once that new dog owners spend around $1000,- to $1300,- on misc. stuff the first year. And that's if the dog is a healthy one. What do these folks do when their "free" pet turns out to have diabetes or has any other special medical need? As somebody already posted: the poor criters get dumped at the local pound. A pet is a commitment. Financially AND emotionally ![]()

| ![]() You should tell this people, who ask for a free yorkie, to go to the shelter. The question about the size is what makes me nuts. I shopped for about a year before I got trixie , and I never asked for a small yorkie. Yet, trixie is a very small yorkie. they should know better and go to a shelter. the shelter fees here in pa is 120. that includes spade, and vacinations, plus flea treatments. I try to get one from the shelter myself, (yorkie) but they turn me down, because I have a child, who by the way has proved herself to be very gentle with my animals.trixie and her sleep together, all three of us in the same bed. Still, I think people with children, Should not have one, unless, there is an adult in the house 24/7, there is only one child, who has more animals in the house, and is used to them. The person must prove that she or him is capable of paying vet bills. |

What I have found since I have been on the forums.. soo many times there is some one either rehoming a young yorkie, or some one is posting a yorkie or two need homes fast.. and there have been other stories of cheap yorkies..so maybe a person has seen this.. and missed a couple of chances.. so they think maybe if I make a thread.. people might know of one needing a home in my area... something to think about.. We really are real people on the side of a monitor. We must think of how we type things.. when we just would like to make a thread.. anne

| ![]() May be I should fraise it better "if I was to give one of my precious yorkies for free" I would most definitely made those conditions, I am glad you are an eception to this rule, yet, I am not about to take the chance, and believe that all kids are as well behaved with animals as yours and mine are. althou IO dont expect everyone to agree with me; I do espect them to be careful enough to consider, this when rehoming, if need it. |

M nephew who is like a younger brother to me.. brought up three children from young babies.. with a yorkie.. that dog died of old age.. I do not worry about the children.. I worry about the parents.. for they are who makes it a good home for both their children and there pets..It is no guarantee that due to having children means a yorkie is not meant for you.. my grandsons.. both of them grew up with my dogs.. sleeping with them, falling asleep on the carpet with a yorkie cuddled to them.. my youngest grandson now 14 years old is the most gentle child in this world with yorkies..he was taught how to hold them.. when not to hold them, and how to walk when they are on the floor..My sister had the brother to her son's yorkie, and again her grandchildren were always there at her house, or she was at their house with her yorkie.. the two dogs. always knew each other and were glad to be together.. my opinion only... anne

| ![]() Nothing in life is for free.... Yorkie's are known to be expensive, and if people believe they can write down a sob story to get what they want, then that is shameful. One of the first things out of strangers mouths when they see my Suzi is how much did she cost? That is not something to ask a stranger... Other comments are mostly about wanting one like her.... That bothers almost just as much because then thing they are going to grab her. It scares me. ![]()
