Wow I din't know about the attack my internet web page didn't say anything about that, what a wonderful dog he was, I understand now why she wanted to do this, but my question is: does that mean that the puppies will have the same character disposition of the father? humm sorry for my ignorance, I don't know much about cloning, just curious about that

The puppies have no father except what would be the cloned animal's father. For example if someone cloned you, the genetic make-up would be the same as your genetic make-up, and so I guess you could say your mother and father would be the clone's mother and father genetically speaking.

i think what you mean is will it have the same personality as the previous dog, right? i dont think so.. personality develops from a mix of environment and genetics.. i think this puppy will proabbly have a compeltely different upbringnig so it should have a different personality--not dramatically or anything though I dont think.

I don't know about South Korea, but you'd have lots of trouble selling folks on pit bulls as service dogs around here. Cloning gives me the creeps. I think it would be like having the dog's ghost around, looks like the dog, maybe sounds like the dog, but isn't the dog and couldn't possible be exactly like the dog. Creepy!

That was my thought exactly. Who in their right mind would want an unpredictable pitt bull for a service dog. They can love you one minute and hate you the next. Those five puppies will not have the same personality as Bugger. It's impossible. They will all develop differently because of their environment. For $100K I'd hire a butler, and buy a Yorkie!

And, for the sake of argument - this begs flipping the question: why do we have the ability to clone if we can give birth?

It's interesting because, at one time, the following things were also considered immoral/unethical: organ transplants, blood transfusions, vaccinations, autopsies, artificial insemination, etcetera. And the moral/ethical arguments/outcries were similar to those today that surround stem cells/cloning.

I don't think I have enough information to take a stand on cloning, but like I said earlier - I certainly hate to think of another industry that results in animal cruelty. I would have to understand the real benefit of cloning. I DO understand the benefits of stem cell research.

Thought this would be interesting to post here. It turns out that there is a lizard named Cnemidophorus neomexicanus, or the New Mexico Whiptail Lizard, where they are a female only species. In order for them to reproduce, one female climbs on top of another female and pretends to well....you know, and that stimulates the production of eggs. Essentially, they are all clones!!! Some have theorized that there once was a male of this species, but the genetic material for producing male reduced in size until the male just became extinct!
