| Access Hollywoof: How Celebrities Pamper Their Pooches I was trying to go to sleep last night. And here comes this Access Hollywood special on celebrities and their pets. So, I jotted down some notes and thought I would share with you guys! Did anyone else see it? I was so wrong when I said that they just have dogs because they're "cute" and probably throw them to someone else to take care of their pets. I was very wrong. Boy, these dogs get the royal treatment and some celebs even rescued from shelters and this "Rally to Rescue" in California. There is a pet boutique titled "The Silver Spoon" which holds a dog clothing festival for all the celebrities and their dogs to go out and buy things such as beds, collars and such. I forgot what her name was, Rachel _____, who had a custom built dog house which was a replica of HER mansion. The dog house came equipped with a chandelier! It was $9,000. It was gorgeous. They showed celebs bringing their dogs to their own County Club called "Canyon View Dog County Club" which is usually $2,000 - $5,000 a stay. They had a really cute bone-shaped pool for the dogs. They also had hammocks so the dogs could lay on them and swing back and forth. It was a "Cater to canines" place. It looked great. They also bring their dog to doggy spas where they can get a doggy massage and there is also aromatherapy for dogs. That's just crazy! There is also a real "Dr. Doolittle" for dogs. She says that she can communicate with them to find out how they live their live and if they enjoy their lifestyle or not. There is a special instructor in LA who provides private lessons to a dog and dog owner for "Dogga".. doggy yoga! It was around $100/hr. Many of the celebrities take their dogs to either Le Chien in NY which usually costs $300-500 for a grooming. Some in LA take their dogs to LA Dogworks. It looked like an awesome place. I wish I could take Fred there! They do grooming, coat dying, nail painting, pawdecures. Those that are "stressed out" can go into the RR Lounge. In there, they can sit on couches and watch dog movies on a 42" plasma TV! They also had a huge indoor dog park for the dogs that liked to run around and socialize. Then, there is a service provided in LA called "The Pet Taxi". They cater to celebrities who might not have enough time to take their dogs to the vet, or to get groomed. It's $45 a trip. (http://www.lapettaxi.com/index.html) Than, Access Hollywood proclaimed Tori Spelling's pug the most spoiled dog. She has a $35,000.00 diamond bracelet for herself and a matching $13,200.00 diamond bracelet for her pug. It was an interesting special. I also found out that Vera Wang (bridal designer) has a Yorkie as well! I think these dogs have a better life than I do! Here's another interesting fact.. the Jack Russel Terrier on Frasier makes $10,800 an episode!! I just thought I'd share with you guys. |

| It's amazing that people spend that much on their dogs! Hey I guess if I had the money I probably would to, It's just unbelievable to me! I guess as long as their dogs are happy and loved that's all that matters! |

| As I read this, I thought "Now there are dogs who have a lot of stuff that money can buy!" Wonder how much they have of what money can't buy.. Do you suppose Tori's pug would feel loved if it did NOT have that bracelet? Or if the dog didn't get to go to the specialty spa for its bath would it feel like its parents didn't care about it.. Heaven forbid that the dog would have to get a bath in the kitchen sink and be dried with mommie's hair dryer... I am sorry but "stuff" doesn't say "love and caring" to me. I know I am equating dogs and human kids and that might offend some one. If it does, I apologize. |

Yorkie Lover Donating Member | Its good to know that we are not the only ones who spend tons of money on our babies...now if they could only have those kinds of places that I could afford...Magic and Sailor are very jealous right now...they want a professional doggy massage!!

I certainly wasn't spoiled as a kid. My parents were very young when they had me ( both of them 18), and so for alot of years they struggled just to give me the bare necessities. But I always knew they loved me, and would do anything for me. And I also knew that if they had the money they would like to treat me to some special things, and they have managed to do that as time has gone by. It's just nice to know that you can have to extra's if you can afford it.

| Yeah, I have to agree that materialistic things doesn't mean that they are loved. My parents struggled when I was young as well and I never had the greater things in life that every other kid had but I knew that they loved me because of the way I was raised and how hard they TRIED to buy me the things I wanted. I also agree that a dog probably does not know the difference between a $100 toy and a $1 dollar toy. Or, a $500 collar versus a $5 dollar collar. It will all be torn apart anyway! It's just very interesting to see what celebrities throw their money away on. After watching that, I started wondering why celebrities don't pass up a $13,000 bracelet for their dog and donate that to shelters or anti-puppymill foundations. |

| I think I have seen part of that special before. In Atlanta, we also have a pet taxi if you dont have time to take your pup to the groomer, vet, etc. I came across it online a while back, but haven't needed to use it. Apparently they are put in comfortable conditions so that they can see out of the car, and they never put them in cages. Good to know these services exist though if you want to pamper your pooch, but I do agree that your dog wouldn't know the difference if it were being deprived from that lifestyle.

| Natalie, I agree. I watched several programs on the terrible horrific conditions in Niger. I bet $13,000.00 dollars could but a lot of meds and foodfor those people. I know we could say the same thing about the money we spend to buy or puppies, but the amounts are so much different. $13,000.00 is a drop in the bucket to them, but to a starving, sick baby it is the difference between life and death.. |
