National Airport is a just a couple miles from Alexandria - Dulles International Airport is 20+ miles away. Driving along the Potomac River on the George Washington Parkway is scenic and not as nerve wracking as coming around 495.

Can't take dogs on Metro (subway). Alexandria is very dog friendly. It should be fun. There is a party cruiser that docks at Alexandria that I've seen take evening dinner cruises along the Potomac River.

Ive been, but it's been awhile I think gucci is right next to tiffany? The traffic pattern right there is annoying. But lots of upscale shopping!

I'm new here..... what kind of events/activites are planned for the MeetUp? Is it just a weekend? My family and I were thinking of going to Washington D.C. next year anyway, so maybe I could plan a little side-trip for Mommy and Tobey

welcome to YT! We are waiting for the committee to release details of next summer's meetup. They are in the planning stages.

6-7 weeks ago we had our 1st meetup in Kansas City. We had a great time in a park, we had 2 different speakers in, numerous vendors with dog items, 2 breakfasts together, a lunch and a dinner - the highlight was a pj party for the dogs! We had lots of fun with games and raffles over the weekend and lots of picture taking

I'm excited to see what great plans the committee has for next year!

I didn't read every post, so this may have been mentioned already. The Hotel Monaco (formally the Holiday Inn) is in Old Town Alexandria and is very pet friendly. They even have a doggie happy hour every Tuesday and Thursday night - it's wonderful and a lot of fun! Always a bunch of Yorkies there! The rooms have a special dog bed and dishes. It's right in the heart of old town and would allow people to walk most everywhere (restaurants, shopping, waterfront) - it's also near a metro stop. If you flew into National, you wouldn't even need to rent a car.

Forgot to mention...I've taken Cayo on the metro and the metro busses several times with no problems - as long as she's in her carrier and it's zipped up, I haven't had a problem. It's not officially "allowed", but if your pup is quiet I don't think anyone will say anything to you.

Hey, was this the menu for the Irish Pub? We just ate there and it sounds like the same menu. We ordered the chicken for Pia but she was more interested in my food.

I know what your saying about Ohio, some places let you take your pet outside, but I have yet to find a place by me that has a menu for the doggies too!

We loved it there!! I posted a picture video from our day.

We really had a nice time and I can't wait to go again.

Only 4 hrs? That's really good! You live in Queens right? I thought it was like 8 hrs from here, idk if i should drive or take a plane...not that i have a car yet but i plan on getting one and wonder if it will be easier to drive

wellllll Im in queens to and plan on going if you do decide to drive me and max will be more than happy to carpool and share expenses

gotta see what comes out cheapest, if gas prices are anything like they are today next yr who knows LOL
