| I am so JEALOUS I am so jealous of all you lucky Yorkie owners who have multiple furbabies! I used to think two dogs was the perfect number for a house, until one of our Schnauzers passed, and we got a Yorkie. Amazing, now I just dream of having a whole housefull of Yorkies (along with our other Schnauzer who is 12). What surprises me even more is that my husband agrees, so we are actively looking for our next furbaby. They are somewhat hard to find in Hawaii, as we can't import from other states due to quarantine restrictions, so wish me luck, and if anyone has any leads in Hawaii, please forward. Love YT for helping me get comfortable and adore my first Yorkie! I can't wait to add more furbaby names to my signature. Aloha,

| Finally, someone from Hawaii. I hope to move there after I graduate and get my license. (probably in the next year) I will be getting my yorkie in the next month or two.

| Great, and be sure to check into Hawaii's strict quarantine laws so you can start the process of preparing your Yorkie to move here and avoid the 120 day caged quarantine period. With proper prep with a vet, micro chip ID, shots all logged, you can cut the quarantine time way down. I could never leave my dog in a cage in Oahu for 4 months!

| I would stay in Ca before I would not have her. I'll definetly be looking into the laws now, so I can be prepared later.

| With proper prep and documentation you can get a puppy to Hawaii with the 5 day quarantine program; the youngest the puppy could be is around 10 months old because it needs rabies shots, and a waiting period after, etc. The key is to know the laws (search on internet), get the forms and brochures, and get your vet involved from the start. With all that, it should go well, and you'll enjoy your baby long before moving. It is hard to find Yorkies here, and even harder to find then from reputable breeders, and they all get a very high price due to limited availability.

| Seriously, does anyone know how I can find Yorkie breeders in Hawaii (any island ok). I found Tiki thru an ad on Kijiji, and I check the newspaper ads daily, but know it would be better if I could contact breeders directly. Thanks for any help.

| The Yorkshire Terrier Club of America is usually a decent place to start looking for "reputable" breeders. I checked their site (Yorkshire Terrier Club of America) and could only find one listed but they listed only a rescue, no puppies. I'll attach their info below. I'd start with them and make sure the info is up-to-date. They may be breeding now. Also, even if they aren't, they may be able to steer you in the right direction. Vets are usually a good place to ask as well. I hope some of this helps a little. - Byron Daisy C. Yamada Honolulu, HI 96814-2458 (808) 949-6200 Home and fax daisyyamada@hawaii.rr.com |

| I'm so jealous that you get to live in Maui!!!!!!!! Next time we visit (which won't be till 2010), I'll have to look you up so I can love on a yorkie while we're gone!!!! The quarantine process was made much less restrictive last year. As long as all the paperwork is received in Oahu and confirmed, there is no quarantine anymore. HOWEVER, the pup must fly in cargo and you must route through Oahu and the pup must be picked up no later than 5:00pm or they have to stay at least 48 hours at your additional cost. The paperwork is still pretty extreme and it is completely up to you to follow-up and make sure everything necessary is in place.

The quarantine law is definitely better, but still you cannot get a puppy thru the process until they are about 10 months old (due to needing 2 rabies shots & a waiting period after, etc.). Also, I want to see and hold my puppy in it's early puppy-hood, and don't have the heart to put one in airplane cargo. I'm sure I'll find one in Hawaii eventually. There was one in the Maui paper last month for $5,000. which is ridiculous when I just want a pet.

| Thanks, and by the way I LOVE your Morkies. I was interested in finding a Morkie originally, but they are really hard to find here. I still want to find out more about them and would love to add one to my furfamily too.
