The quarantine process was made much less restrictive last year. As long as all the paperwork is received in Oahu and confirmed, there is no quarantine anymore. HOWEVER, the pup must fly in cargo and you must route through Oahu and the pup must be picked up no later than 5:00pm or they have to stay at least 48 hours at your additional cost. The paperwork is still pretty extreme and it is completely up to you to follow-up and make sure everything necessary is in place. |
Great, by 2010 I hope I'll have a housefull of Yorkies to hug.
The quarantine law is definitely better, but still you cannot get a puppy thru the process until they are about 10 months old (due to needing 2 rabies shots & a waiting period after, etc.). Also, I want to see and hold my puppy in it's early puppy-hood, and don't have the heart to put one in airplane cargo. I'm sure I'll find one in Hawaii eventually. There was one in the Maui paper last month for $5,000. which is ridiculous when I just want a pet.
