| Sometimes it's HARD to do the right thing. Sometimes it can be very very very hard to do the right thing. From everything I've learned about puppy mills and backyard breeders and the extra reading I've done here and other places, I know that if you buy from these people you are continuing to support the problem, NOT the solution. However, when you see a puppy in that situation it is soooooooo hard not to want to "rescue" him. And you feel horrible at first. But it is the right thing to do. Just difficult. Hubby recently asked me if we could buy a $75 yorkie/ chi mix and showed me these photos. The photos pretty much say it all don't they? Pup is cute, but doesn't look healthy. The stuff in the back ground is scary and has backyard breeder or puppy mill written all over it, and she's planning to send this pup to new owners at 8 weeks. HUGE red flags.....but it was so hard to say no, but I did. Also, please don't point me in the direction of other puppies! We are absolutely not in the right place financially to take on another pet anyway.

YT 2000 Club Member | This is just dispicable!! (sp) I feel so bad for the pup, but your right, it has puppy mill or back yard breeder written all over it! Maggy May came from horrid conditions and let me tell you, we've spent more on her to keep her alive and try and get her healthy than we have all three of our other furkids put together in the whole time we've had them and they range from ages 5 years to 8 years, Maggy May is only 8 months old. It's so hard to harden your heart and say no to these lil ones, but hopefully if enough people do, the puppy mills and back yard breeders will see there's no money to be made and will pick up a new hobby and stop making these lil ones suffer. My hats off to you for making a hard choice.

Donating YT 10K Club Member | I so agree with everything you said...yes, it's very hard. Rescuing one means...another will come along to replace it. PS I tried really hard not to look at that puppy too.

| You've made the right decision, but I know where you're coming from, I want to ''rescue'' every single pup I see, if I listened to my hearth, I would have at least 50 some odd dogs in my house. I've even forced myself not to go and see the pups at the pet shop because it would depress me so much. So YES you made the right decision, but I have a nasty feeling that backyard breeders will never go away, there'll always be someone who will buy.. sad but true

| Yep. I appreciate the support and didn't want to upset anyone, but wow...it was a tough call. Mary, I thought so at first too, but look above his eye in the second pic. Looks a little strange there to me.

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | I couldn't agree with you more. I think rescuing dogs from a poor breeder is such a huge mistake, you are rewarding that breeder and yes, more puppies will take it place. Why is it that people want to rescue the puppies, but don't seem to mind if the adult dogs live like this? Their attitude is "someone will buy them anyway", but if these poor breeders have to start charging less and less for their dogs, maybe they'll get out of the breeding business. I wish people would rescue dogs from legitimate rescues, and quit saying that they rescued the dog from the poor breeder. If people want to purchase a dog from a poor breeder, that's their right, I just don't think that they should think of it as a "rescue", but more a condemnation for the other dogs left behind.

| You did the right thing Judy. Even though I can tell it tore @ your heart. Wow, that place looks a mess. I too feel bad for the puppy. It' not his fault he was born into such a horrible situation.
