I couldn't agree with you more. I think rescuing dogs from a poor breeder is such a huge mistake, you are rewarding that breeder and yes, more puppies will take it place. Why is it that people want to rescue the puppies, but don't seem to mind if the adult dogs live like this? Their attitude is "someone will buy them anyway", but if these poor breeders have to start charging less and less for their dogs, maybe they'll get out of the breeding business. I wish people would rescue dogs from legitimate rescues, and quit saying that they rescued the dog from the poor breeder. If people want to purchase a dog from a poor breeder, that's their right, I just don't think that they should think of it as a "rescue", but more a condemnation for the other dogs left behind.
