Against Puppy Mills Club
 
If you are against puppy mills, than join the club. You don't have to have a puppy from a puppy mill. Just list your dog's name, age, and gender and you are a member!! I would love to hear club names too. I have recently seen a lot of posts about bad breeders in here and would like to have a group of people who are against it.

Great idea, Joey and I are both against puppymills. Joey's almost 2 and he's my little boy Yorkie. Here's agreat link to the Humane Society and information on how we can stop puppy mills. Stop Puppy Mills

Is there a club here that is against puppy mills? I haven't checked and I cant even remember how to find it now. I'm totally against puppy mills, even though we adopted my baby Bentley from a pet store (mom fell in love with him).. I'll join!!

I've never purchased from a pet store and I've donated to HSUS. I've seen so many videos of the puppy mills, it breaks my heart. I'll gladly join any club that will eliminate these atrocities.

For those interested in stopping Puppy Mills, two suggestions that the Humane society gives is never to buy your pet from a pet store, or website. Many people have learned that buying a pet from a pet store is a bad idea, but these same people will think it's ok to buy off the Internet. Anyone can post a site with cute puppy pictures, and these sites are fronts for puppy mills. A responsible breeder would never sell her dogs this way. Money talks, and only "reward" those breeders who you think are doing an outstanding job in breeding dogs. Don't reward breeders who are torturing dogs in order to make huge profits. Tell others not to buy from the Internet, and don't "rescue puppies" from bad breeders, this only make the breeder produce more dogs under terrible conditions. I support the AKC because I believe they are trying to get rid of puppymills, but they can only close a kennel if it breaks a state law, so make sure your state has passed good kennel laws.

I would like to join! I rescued my Chihuahua from a really bad puppymill! He is almost 4 and then I have Cookie 2 years old and Foxy who is almost 3. :)

I'm so glad that so many of you have responded! I think this is very important! I've been telling family members to not buy from pet stores. I started volunteering at my local Humane Shelter, it's so sad seeing how many animals come through there. There are so MANY pit bulls that are there and just have to be put to sleep because of animal cruelty.

Sasha is 3 years old, and my parents and I think that she came from a byb in Missouri. The lady never let us see her home or Sasha's parents but by picture through e-mail. The "breeder" said that she would meet us at a gas station half way.

Jasmine is 1 year.

I'm hoping to adopt a yorkie one of these days either from the Humane Shelter, or though a rescue service.

DITTO, I give lots regularly to HSUS it is my main place for donations.

I want to Join. These people have to be stopped. Just purchased my Baby from a Puppy Mill.

From now on, I will only buy a puppy if the breeder shows me where she keeps them and gives me a tour and I aprrove of where she keeps them!

:animal-pa:animal-pa:animal-paThey stopped selling puppies in pet stores in England, I believe, it might take a long, long, long, time, but we have to start somewhere and awareness is the start...So if we all told 1 person not to buy from a pet store tomorrow , can you imagine how many people we'd reach?

I wish there was a way that YT can do a raffle in the future that goes towards a place that rescues dogs from puppy mills. To help with medical bills and whatever else they need.

Yorkietalk is doing a raffle right now that helps rescue dogs, many probably came from puppy mills. Tickets are only $5.00 and there are some great prizes that have been donated, all the proceeds goes to the United Yorkie Rescue (UYR) Here's the link: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/gen...le-2008-a.html I think there's only about 10 more days to buy tickets.

Oh yrah! I bought six tickets! I completely forgot about it. Here is what we can do: 1. Don't buy puppies from pet shops!
2.See the breeder's house and kennels before you buy.
3.If you here somebody is buying from a pet shop, try to convince them not to, if you know them.
4. Donate or volunteer at your humane shelter.

Great list, and let me add one more don't buy a pet from a website, and try to convince others not to either.
