Totally against them! Izzy 2 yrs. PROUD FEMALE :p |
Count us in... Baron is a 9 month old male Yorkie who I bought from a breeder after checking with the A.K.C. I have a rescue from a puppy mill , 7 year old Papillion named Sammy. I live in Lancaster County Pa. This is Puppy MIll Centeral. It makes me sick. They now use the Internet to sell their pups posed in little red wagons and holding Beanie Babies next to them. If you find them online be very, very, careful... Baron and I hate Puppy Mills and there is a site here on YT!!! Look @ clubs, it's there, PLEASE join up!!!:aimeeyork Baron and his Mom |

You bring up a very important point. The word about Pet Stores has gotten out and a quite a few people have stop buying them at pet stores, but think nothing about buying them on the Internet. I would thing a Pet Store is better; at least you would have some recourse, if the animal dies. Like you say the websites show cute poses of puppies, and people actually believe that they are getting that particular dog, this isn't the case, you just get a dog, and the pictures could be years old. Don't buy from a pet store or website or you are condoning the torture of millions of dogs. You need to convince other to actually see where the puppies are being raised in order to stop this. |

OH OH - now i have to disagree with part of what you said - now mind you its just part - I am totally against pet shops and puppy mills BUT a large part of my buyers start with a picture via my website and then if they are approved as a possible parent , we move on to email pictures and on and on - And the pictures of puppies are taken the same day they are sent. Not years or months before. I use a website due to where i am located in a very rural north Florida area. Please don't generalize like that against anyone who has a website- I know that if you poll my many puppy owners they will have to tell you that when they were getting pictures of the baby every week or so and then got their real live baby , that it definitely was the same puppy - No they do not all look alike and each has definite differences. To generalize against any breeder that has a website is no more fair than for me to say anyone that contacts me and doesn't want to make a long trip until the baby is ready to go to its new home , must be a scammer of some kind or perhaps i hear of one person that lives in a certain area and they mistreated a dog so i should never sell to someone that comes from that city or what ever . You have to be careful when you lump everone into a group because if i would discriminate against someone based on what someone else had done, then i would be most unfair. There now i have had my say :D:D |

Thank you for that - You do not and never will find a pay pal button on my website - all buyers have to be interviewed and approved and then go thru my back ground check - But every one should be made aware that if there are mutiple breeds and loads of puppies and the availiblity to click on a button and order a baby , they should run as fast as they can from that website as the seller is only interested in a few dollars and no regard for the welfare of that baby. I think you know that some of us do way more to try to be sure of where our babies go and how they are going to be treated before there is a sale done. If i had to live on what i make from my puppies believe me I would be a whole lot skinnier if you get what i mean. :D My vet is the only one that makes out on my babies. Lets just keep trying to educate potential owners and help stop the puppy mills and unethical breeders as well as the high dollar pet shops that supposedly offer a guarantee , untill some one tries to collect then its another story about what that guarantee covers. |
Oh believe me, I in no way endorse buying dogs a pet stores, it's just that message seems to have gotten through to people, however so many people write threads about, "I didn't buy my dog from a pet store, because I read about that and how they sell puppy mill dogs, I got him online." We then check out the site, and it has a million red flags, but this person just felt safe buying on line for some reason. Shipping a tiny is never a good idea. So often the dog dies, and there is just nothing they can do about it. |

is there a place on YT to make and post a list of the main "RED FLAGS " so that new comers would have a place to look ? and how would we get them to go there ? |

On the other hand, it might just enable breeders to make their sites look acceptable. |

That would be the down side to this for sure - as i am sure you know that there are many "lurkers" that come on here to see what we say -- I know this as i get a great many emails from people that say they got my name from YT but when i question them , they don't have a user name or any posts on here - let me go back to the drawing board ( well thinking board) and see if there is a way that we could make a thread that only members could access - perhaps admin can advise me - you know sort of like the one that only certain members can access - what do you think ? |
Oh, I was speaking kind of tongue in cheek; I don't think the really bad ones are going to change their sites just because we say it's a red flag. We have been saying that "teacup" is a huge red flag, and I doubt if many breeders have stop using the word because of this. There are too many people out there that aren't aware of "red flags", and if we post where only certain members have access, than we aren't informing the general public. Maybe we could hold back on one "secret weapon" that only we know is a red flag. :D Hey guys, I added :animal36 Join YAP Here! :animal36" to my siggy. For instuction on how to do this, I'll post on the YAP message board. |
Thank you Nancy! I will do that also! |

Audrey-Belle just turned 5 years old in May. We adopted her 1 year ago yesterday, before that she was a breeder dog all her life. We got her from a no kill rescue after she'd been spayed and had her teeth cleaned. |
Toto and I joined ... she is female, July 18 will be six years old. Although, Toto came from a show breeder, we hate, hate puppymills and work diligently to try to stamp them out!! :thumbdown:thumbdown |
4 Attachment(s) I am not just against it, but one from those who actively educate and warn people about puppy mills for last 5 years. Both my babies came from same puppy mill: first one was purchased without knowing who my breeder really was and second one is a girl from same kennel after it was shut down. Both are great babies and pretty healthy (except some genetic issues). I don't have enough words to say how much I HATE puppy mills and those "breeders". Happy to enjoy the club |
puppy mill in indiana i recently heard of a puppy mill in indiana. they have about 400 dogs in horrible conditions.. they have a website at Clover Puppies from Clover Meadow Kennels... A Missouri Blue Ribbon Kennel the girls who got a puppy there thought USDA was a good thing...until they arrived and no one greeted them, they walked around and discovered the poor animals. they were told by the owners that they were trespassing after discovering what they had hidden in the barns. they are reporting them to the authorities..:thumbdown |
