You could start a formal club in the social groups section. Here's the link: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/group.php Just go to the bottom of the page. Maybe we could inform people when certain states are passing puppy mill legislation and they could call or write their congressman. |

Have you thought about putting another word before against? For example, People against puppy mills. If you make puppy mills one word, it would be PAP, or what I like even better is YAP, yorkies against puppymills, afterall are yorkies are in this club too! |
I am totally against puppymills and back yard breeders. However I do want to say on thing about buying a puppy from a website. Note all breeders that have websites are irresponsible. There are many good responsible breeders on Yorkie Talk that have websites. I think that if you are buying a puppy off the internet you should as a buyer do your homework. |

The point is if you really want to stop puppy mills you do have to make certain sacrifices, and one of these is not buying from a website. If this would save just one dog from living in the horrifying conditions of a puppy mill, is this too much to ask? |
We joined the club. We are definately against puppy mills. |
No it's not too much to ask but like I said alot of responsible breeders have websites. They advertise the prices , have contracts , and true they do put potential buyers through alot of questions. And i do know that just because you have the money for a dog doesn't mean they will sell one to you unless you meet their requirements. But I also know that the Breeder I just recently purchased my female from does have a website and does sell on the internet. She has been breeding and showing for nearly 50 years. Her dogs are kept in her home and she is very overprotective of all the adults and pups. But she is in no way a BYB nor a puppymill. I am all for stopping these people who are out to make a quick $$$$ and that don't give a damn about the animals they are using but you can't say that all of the puppies for sale on the internet are from BYB or puppymills. It may be a small percentage but they are still there. I do agree that you should see the persons home and meet the pups face to face. but if you are determined to get that puppy them you should make the extra effort. Some people don't they just want what others have regardless. I'm not trying to cause any arguments. I just wanted to add that because i believe the small percentage of good shouldn't be tucked in with the larger percentage of bad |
Im in! i believe that my yorkie was from this type of situation, the breeder would not anwser our phone calls after we got her and did not help us after she sold us a sick puppy. maggie:aimeeyork 2 minnie:aimeeyork 3 |

Hi. Can someone tell me how to join? Thanks. Elaine |
Here is the link to join the club. If you go to the top right corner you can click join club. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/group.php?groupid=61 |
Spoiledgirls. Exactly my point. Buyers should do their homework and check out potential breeders they may buy from beforehand instead of saying oh I want a puppy so bad and i don't want to wait. Maybe if more people actually took their time and did their research and asked those questions, and actually went to see theses pups in the breeders home or wherever they are located we might be able to finally shut the puppymills down, and stop the BYB's for good. |
bump! |
We want to join too! Doodlebug is a rescue from an Amish puppymill and they are horrible places. It makes me happy that his mommy and brothers and sister are all safe as well in new loving homes. |
Thanks for bumping this up - I was on vacation when you started this, so I totally missed it. I have lots of ideas for what we can do as a club |
Just want to repeat the link for those interested in joining. YAP - Yorkies Against Puppymills |

I wonder if this link would be better. YAP - Yorkies Against Puppymills. Yorkiesmiles, what are some of your ideas? |
come see the babies Quote:
However i do take exception to the post about we should be banned if we have a website - just because i have a website for viewing pictures as opposed to trying to send a dozen shots via email - i would hope doesn't make me a "PUPPY MILL" Just because i have a websit i think i ask more question via phone , email or in person than if i didn't - if someone wants a Nolens baby they answer many questions to my satisfaction - ask any of those that have posted that they have one of mine. I think there are many YT'ers on here that have been to my house and have seen how my kids live . And i would love to join the club - that is if i am allowed as i have a website and live out rural in north Florida - but tell me this do you want the list of names for all 8 of my kids ? |

You only need to list those Yorkies who want to make sure that their offspring doesn't end up in a puppy mills. :D |

I too , grind my teeth when i see a website with puppies ( usually many breeds) then the prices are listed and if you want to use a credit card you can go right ahead and fill out a form and pay the price and they will ship it to you - thats the same as a Pet shop and is most likely a real Puppy Mill . Now i want every one to understand that i HATE to know a dog lives in a puppy mill and EVERYONE needs to stop buying puppies that come from there - I don't know what it will take to shut these places down but I am plenty willing to use my time and money to help do that - I have been accused of wanting to close them so i can sell mine - Those of you that are or have been on my wait list know that is just not true. Anyway - i am off topic here as this is supposed to be about a Yorkies against Puppy Mills club and i am joining as soon as i find the link to it again. |

I am sorry, I ment the websites that have like 8 different breeds for sale and that you should be careful when buying off line. I didn't mean to offend anyone. |

thaTS how they stay in business and can charge 4000 for a puppy the good breeders should have better websites someone who has too many breeds is a puppy mill/ broker but most people cannot tell the difference unless they read yorkietalk one or 2 breeds shows they are smaller and better breeders good breeders SHOULD have great websites if possible godaddy.com |

Please don't judge a breeder by his or her website, sure some of the really poor breeders have lots of red flags, but this is not always the case. Don't know if you've all heard about the Teresita Hughes case in Florida, dogs were taken from her home, because of horrible conditions, and after last weeks loss in court, some might need to be returned, unfortunately it's the healthiest she wants back. The Humane Society has spent over $100,000.00 on the dogs care so far. Here's a link to her Website: Raffinans Kennel. There's lots of red flags, but apparently there was enough people who thought she was a good breeder because she had a website. There's more information about the Teresita Hughes case in my signature. |
