Announcing... The YorkieTalk Raffle for United Yorkie Rescue (UYR)

We all love Yorkies and that's why we're here! However, not every Yorkie is fortunate enough to have loving parents and a happy life, which is where United Yorkie Rescue comes in. They rescue Yorkies from all over, and rehome them to find them a warm, loving home. As recommended by bettyeanne and Kirby's Dad, this is an excellent organization that truly loves Yorkies and wants what's best for them.

We are doing another raffle for United Yorkie Rescue again this year. They are a non-profit organization that rescues and rehomes Yorkies. Their website is:

When they receive a dollar in donations, 91 cents of that donation goes directly to vet costs, the other 9 cents goes towards postage and insurance. UYR has spent over $450,000 in vet costs for rescued Yorkies since 2002 and have rescued 1296 Yorkies thus far. These facts are directly from Mary Sullenberger, the president of UYR, and their financial status can be viewed at Guidestar.org, which is the non-profit organization that monitors other non-profit organizations.

In 2006, YorkieTalk was able to raise $720.00 for United Yorkie Rescue (UYR). Last year, YorkieTalk was able to raise $1600.00 for United Yorkie Rescue (UYR). Link to the past UYR threads:

YorkieTalk UYR Raffle 2007 WINNERS! (With Video!)

This year, YorkieTalk will be having one BIG RAFFLE, with as many prizes as we can get, to support United Yorkie Rescue. We have gotten approval for this from United Yorkie Rescue already and they are thrilled with our idea. We are looking to raise at least $1,000 for UYR and we need your help! The more prizes we have, the more we can raise for this great organization!

We hope to raise even MORE money than last year! YorkieTalk is proud to announce that EVERY CENT raised through raffle tickets will go directly to UYR. For example, if you use Paypal and buy a $5 raffle ticket and there are Paypal fees, YorkieTalk will cover the Paypal fees, and your FULL $5 will go directly to UYR after the raffle is over. YorkieTalk will post a picture of the actual cashier's check that will be sent to UYR, as we have done in previous years.

We already have over $500 worth of prizes for this UYR Raffle!

To buy a raffle ticket, we take payments via Paypal. Send payment to raffle@yorkietalk.com and please mention that your payment is for UYR Raffle Tickets and include your YorkieTalk username. If you'd like to make a financial donation only to UYR (meaning you do not want any raffle tickets), that is fine as well, just mention that your payment is a financial donation to UYR. We will pool the money together along with raffle ticket sales and send one check to UYR. Or you may directly donate to UYR by going to their Web site. We will only be selling raffle tickets to current YorkieTalk members. Please make sure you have a YorkieTalk username before you purchase a raffle ticket.

Please note payments are not-refundable. Also, this fundraising effort is directly for UYR, thus if you are not a YorkieTalk Donating Member at this time, buying raffle tickets will not go towards YorkieTalk Donating Member status.

You may buy as many raffle tickets as you want! There will be a limit of one prize per person. The drawing will be held randomly by YorkieTalk staff and winners will be announced shortly after the raffle ticket buying period. YorkieTalk administrators are not allowed to win any prizes, YorkieTalk moderators are eligible to win prizes. We will announce the winners shortly after the raffle ticket buying period is over.

If there is anything you could donate to the raffle in terms of a prize, it would be greatly appreciated (we do suggest a minimum value of $10 for each prize). We do ask that gifts be Yorkie-related if possible. It can be a gift basket, a box of toys, Yorkie clothes, gift certificates to your store, artwork, or anything else you can think of that is related to Yorkies.

Anything you can give will be greatly appreciated!

Do the tickets have to be bought one at a time or can they be bought in bulk? Say make a 50$ purchase at one time for 10 tickets or do you have to make 10 individual purchases????

I would think they will have the tickets now and as people buy them they will write the YT members name on that ticket next in line. so buying at seperate times should be fine. That will just give you numbers that are next to be sold each time instead of all in a row like when buying them once. thats what I am going to do also. 2 tickets every payday till the 18th. I know that everyone can only win 1 time. so when they draw your number again if you already won, then it will just be set aside and another tix will be drawn for that prize. Does that make sense? I would THINK this is how they would do it, BUT I really don't know. Just a guess on my part
maybe ADMIN will verify this for us. I'm sure they are keeping an extra eye on this thread for questions just like this one

I believe you can buy them in bulk. If you want 4 ticket you just pay $20 for 4. Some people buy one or two here this week and then they'll buy more a few days later. I guess that means you can actually do it either way. Good luck
