I would like to add a bit to this: I also believe that all showbreeders should not be lumped together. I am sure there are nice ones out there. This accounting doesn't sound like one to me, so I was addressing that. I also just realized this is the first post the OP has made. So, I would like to say...hello, welcome to YT and would you introduce yourself to us? Maybe post a photo of your Yorkie, too? Thanks, Sammi ________________________________________________ | |

I am leaning all the time about the Yorkie Breed too, it takes time, experience, and knowledge, just to know basics. I like your goals and your desire to provide the best service possible to interested people. I am sorry that you had a bad experience with one individual. Don't give up, and educate yourself as much as possible.

| I know nothing about breeding, but for 1,000.00 you can have my DH no questions asked.... (just joking ) Well it sounds like you just starting your breeding program good for you...... but I'm sure they all can tell you stories of all the bumps in the road they came across. You don't give up, keep asking questions, researching, and learning. Some people are better with dogs then with humans....lol That would be me . Oh, by the way Welcome to YT

I agree with the posters that are telling you it is not okay for someone to be rude off the start, I call those people stuck up and in their own world where only they exist. Do a lot of research on the yorkies, and dog care in general before you dive into this head first. Leo's breeder and I have become very close friends since he came home. And it is A LOT of work, I think in the last two months I've been talking to her she has not gotten any sleep at all. In my opinion, what makes a great breeder is not just the line.... but the fact that the furbabies are like her children and when something is wrong with one of them it breaks her heart and she is willing to give so much of herself to taking care of what will one day be somoene else's pet. Good Luck

| Firstly, Welcome to Yorkie Talk. I hope I don't sound rude but there are always two sides to every story and since I have had nothing but great luck with show breeders I think this is where she may have been coming from in all of this. If you haven't met her and she hasn't seen your dog, mostly seen your dog (a pic does not show movement and true color) if your dog has not been shown...............yes she may have been alittle upset. So she was alittle upset as well. Learn from this and don't take it out on all show breeders, they do expect certain qualifications. I got out to the shows and got to know the breeders to buy a pet!! You never stop learning in this breed and your goals are wonderful so it always helps to look at the other point of view. JMO

| Okay I'm curious, you all know I'm rather new here.... If the lil girl in question has not fully turned color yet, is she old enough to breed?

The op stated at one year...her coat hadn't changed so she cut it. Now apparently it's coming in steel blue. Yes, the dog is old enough to breed.

| I am sorry that the breeder was rude to you. It seems like a simple "no I am not interested in breeding one of my sires to your bitch, have a nice day, goodbye" would have been more appropriate than a long drawn out rude reply. |

| I would say go back to the breeder that sold you this show quaility girl and get her advice on breeding her. If she trusted you enough to sell you a show quaility girl she should be able to help you. Good show breeders dont sell full registration to just anyone

| No offense, but does that give them the right to be rude and condescending when they don't even know the person? It doesn't take a lot of energy to be polite and explain something like that. JMO.
