| Im not defending this show breeder because your right its not hard to be polite to someone but when getting the same type email or phone call stud dog requests over and over again its gets tiring and one starts to get bitter. One needs to grow a thick skin to be in the show world

| Do you stay in touch with the breeder who sold you your female? A reputable show breeder will usually mentor a person who has gotten a show quality puppy from them and guide them through the showing and breeding process. If you truly have a show quality puppy, you shouldn't have to make cold calls to breeders. Generally, you would show your puppy and finish her championship, then people would be interested in breeding to her. I don't know what her background is, but the term "show quality" or "show potential" is often used as a marketing ploy. If your breeder didn't show herself, I'd suspect that is the case with your girl. If she did come from a show breeder, it's still impossible to tell if that "show potential" puppy really grows up to be a great representation of the breed and able to be shown. Show breeders keep their show potential puppies until they are at least six months old so if you got her any sooner, she may just be a wonderful pet. The best way to learn about showing and ultimately breeding is to go to shows and meet local breeders. If your own breeder isn't willing to mentor you, you need to find a mentor. | To be honest we do not really know what the breeder said. We are hearing just one side of the story. From my experience here on YT, I know that some people perceive honest opinions and advise as rudeness, especially if the advise is not what they want to hear. It is possible the owner of the stud was rude but it is not fair to lump all show breeders in that category. |

| breeding When I started breeding/showing I came up against the rudest of the rude many times...I swore I would never treat people the way some treated me...BUT it is sooooooooo hard when people do such dumb stuff and expect me to help them undo it..I am as polite as possible, but end the conversation...there is only so much ignorance one human can take...we have so much information in 2008, there is no excuse for terminal dumbness... Now, I understand why "some" exhibitors are rude...and have asked a few to tell a couple people off because I am too much of a whimp!!! LOL |
