| Gate Does anyone know where I can get a gate that can fit securely in the doorway without scuffing the doorway? We just painted our house, and I don't want to mess up another doorway. We usually keep our babies gated in the kitchen during the day. Thanks, Pam |

| Get a hinged, swinging gate. Better to have a few screw holes for the hardware than lots of scuffs and paint peeling from the pressure gates.

| I bought my gates at Walmart in Canada but I'm sure you could get them in the U.S. They slide open and hinge down into place with rubber stoppers on the side. I to, did not want to mark my doorways. One of my doorways was too wide, so my husband hinged two gates together and it worked beautifully.

| Options Three options: 1. They sell gates at Petsmart and other pet stores that have wire mesh and wood frames. You can adjust the size and they have 4 white rubber stoppers on the sides. They do not leave a mark. I own two of them for different areas of my house and was worried about the same issue. You can just set it up and when you have guests and you want to hide it, put it in a closet and no one knows the difference. 2. Now that my dog is getting older, I leave him in the kitchen while I am at work. The doorway to my kitchen is huge and there isn't a gate that is big enough to fit. I bought an xpen (at Walmart) and instead of setting it up like it is pictured, I have it completely spread out. It stabilizes by being next to my washer/dryer and then looping around to tuck around another corner. Because of the extra room, I can expand it into the hallway so he can see everyone heading his way. He loves it. I do not have it screwed against anything, just leaned up against walls and it holds just fine. 3. Some companies also make free-standing gates. They tend to be pretty pricey but it is an option. Look at some stores online and see what you think. I have both options #1 and #2 and I like both. I can't speak for option #3 as I have never had one. Good luck!

| We got our gate at Walmart. Its white and screws to the wall or you can just use the tension on it and not screw it to the wall. It has stoppers on the ends so it wont scuff your walls. Thats why we bought it too because we just added a room to our home and retextured our entire interior walls so we dont want to scuff them up either. Good luck on your gate search! I think you'll find the ones at Walmart just as good as the ones at any pet store and you'll probably pay alot less. |

| I had a gate (from Walmart I think) with 4 rubber stoppers on it, but unfortunately the stoppers stuck to the paint and did rip circles of paint off. After repainting those areas we started using little peices of cardboard between the stoppers and the wall.

| We have ours hinged so we dont normally tension it to the wall; we just pull it to and leave it. The puppy doesnt know to paw it to open it yet and the baby that crawls doesnt either - YET! LOL!! |
