| if he's already 4 lbs, you should be able to get him neutered now. Kash was neutered at 5 months old and he was only 2.5 lbs. he did great! most vets say 3 lbs or more, and your pup is past that.

| it's more based on weight than anything else... but it won't hurt to wait if you're worried about his age.

| I would get it done now. My vet wanted to wait for Ranger to reach 4lbs before he was nuetered, which was at 6 months. I would have done it earlier if I could have, but it all worked out. I sure wouldn't wait any longer than six months. Good luck with your decision!!!

Luvs Lulu Donating Member | He is at a good age and size to do it. With neutering you definitely want it before their sexual maturity when the bad behaviour kicks in. With spaying a female you can wait longer because most have their first heat at 7 or more months. Good luck and if it were me I would do it now. I am getting a male soon and once he has his last set of shots then he will be off to be neutered.

| I got Max neutered at 5 1/2 months and he was around 2 pounds and came through it with flying colors (thank god!) when I got him home it was a challenge to keep him still, he was running and playing! I did it early because of what Beth said, I wanted to try and eliminate the chance of marking and it worked! He's 18 months and has never marked and still squats like a girl when using the bathroom

| Oh to say I appreciate it is an understatement! I am soooooooo thankful that he doesnt lift his leg. I was a bit concerned about it when I was looking for my puppy. I wanted a girl at first but when I saw Max I couldnt leave him I knew he was meant to be mine

| Winstin was around five months when we had him done. However, he has lifted his leg since he was just under two months old. We never had trouble with him marking inside. I was worried about that. He has recently started running around outside peeing three times before coming in. He likes our fence and also likes the tallest blade of grass. It's funny. We really laugh when he goes to lift a leg and about falls so he lifts the other one. He was 13 months yesterday.
