Donating YT 3000 Club Member | Freaky Encounter... Yesterday night, hubby took Bengi for a walk. They were taking the usual path, which includes walking on a sidewalk by a pond. There is a “pee spot” close to that area that Bengi likes to use. So last night, while he was sniffing the area, a frog jump out of the grass and scared the hell out of Bengi!!!!! Hubby says that Bengi was shaking like crazy, so he started to check his eyes and face to make sure the frog didn’t release any poisonous substance. But nothing happened, he didn’t touch it, he was just surprised by it, he didn’t expect it to come out of nowhere, so he freaked out. Hubby says that after that, Bengi was scared the rest of the way home and each time he would hear a noise (there are a lot of lizards coming and going and making little noises) he would jump off his paws. When they came back home, hubby said to me, look at his face, he’s pale (or whatever that means ). Poor baby, his eyes were big and his look was sad. It took him like an hour to go back to normal; he didn’t want to play or anything. Thank God by the time we were going to bed, he brought us his little fetch toy to play! Ahhhh poor baby, I think we’re going to try to avoid going on walks at nighttime; although it’s hot in SF, I’d rather go before it gets dark next time |

| ICK! I am doggie walking in South Florida myself and I know the grossest creatures pop out of nowhere!!! Yesterday, we were walking along our normal route and all of a sudden a gargantuan iguana/ lizard/ reptile thing was standing in front of us. I screamed - Louis, my Cavalier was wagging his tail, dying to make friends and Ella Bean (who is about the same size as the reptile) stood perfectly still, as if she was trying to disappear. She was not moving. Her little feet were dug into the cement and I had to lift her to continue home. Picking her up, while keeping Louis from meeting the reptile, while watching the reptile to ensure it didn't attack (do they do that?) was a disaster. This was during the DAY. South Florida just isn't safe

| All I have to say is beware the reptiles and frogs. They are abundant and do not give any notice before they cross paths with the human/canine Floridians!

| My two boys are totally fascinated by frogs, toad, bugs, lizard like things we have in KS, worms, you name it they go for it. UGH!!!! One time we were out walking and I noticed Snowboy, my Pommie, had something in his mouth. It was a smashed, dried out toad. Wasn't a bit happy!!!

| It is funny the things that freak them out. Max is fine with frogs, etc. On walks he usually 'baptizes' every garbage can in the neighborhood, unless there is a box or something different on top. In that case, he growls and backs up. After Christmas, he was totally freaked out by Christmas trees left on the curb. I guess he's a tree hugger and those dead trees upset him.

Therapy Dog Donating Member | Ahh Benji Izzy hopes dat her fweind is all better today. Benji you are still brave for even going out in the dark like that...who knows what could jump out and scare ya. Man when I used to visit the Tampa area for my job a long time ago I couldn't believe all the little toads and lizzards around the hotel and those freaked me out. I can only imagine what I would do is something larger came in my path....I'd probably pass out.
