| My Riddick hates children... Riddick is great with my flesh kids, but hates other children on the block.. The other day, my hubby let Riddick out without being on his chain and he went straight for this little girl and her mom walking past our driveway.. I was upstairs, and I just heard Riddick barking and then a little kid crying with fear.. My hubby had Riddick in his arms when I got down stairs, I got very upset at my hubby and I said "Riddick goes on his chain, if you don't put him in the run.." Then I said I hope you appologized to the Mother.. The little girl was alright, but Riddick scared the life out of her.. I don't know why he doesn't like children, he loves adults.. |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | My Pom was not good with kids, but the neighborhood kids always wanted to come over and see Cali when I got her as a puppy. These kids were ages 3-9 and were verycalm around the dogs. I would have them come over and sit in a circle and pet and hold Cali. Well Maya wanted some attention so I would always hold her head so she couldn't snap at amyone and she ended up loving the kids and when she sees them nowshe is the first to run over and greet them. So maybe just some short exposures in a calm environment with other kids will help.

| My mom has a dachshund that is great around my 3 boys but doesnt like other kids. When we take him to the park with us, or wherever there are kids, he shy's away from them. If they insist on petting him, he wont bite them or hurt them, but he will growl and snap in the air as a way of saying "Leave me alone!" We dont know why he is like that because like I said, he is fine around my boys, but he just doesnt like UN-family kids!! LOL!! I think its just how some dogs are - similar to people. Some people dont want kids; some do. Its all a personal preference. |

| My boys are not big into kids either. They are more afraid of them than trying to scare them though. I am trying to get them more into kids by letting the kids hold them and not picking them up when they cry to be picked up because a kid is around. I know they are like this because they really have never been around kids... but I hate it bc it makes the kids so upset. My bf has 2 kids and its been 6 months together and my boys still will not go to his youngest (12) on thier own. good Luck with your baby... wish I could help more!

| Some of them just arent good with kids. Jewels is afraid of kids. Not my daughter but children she plays with at our house. Jewels doesnt try to bite them but she will bark at them or growl at them if they tease her. I have had her 3 1/2 yrs and have had children in myhouse almost every day and she has not changed

I Love My Babies Donating Member | Could it be that most children make quick movements and this tends to scare the little ones. With any of the dogs we have had in the past, we always make the grandkids sit and be quiet.. then let the puppies go to them. That way, they don't feel like they are getting attacked by these fast moving little people. They get to meet on their own level and on their own time. Just a thought. Good luck with your baby.

Luvs Lulu Donating Member | They get used to their own masters but other kids are just bundles of energy and want to ooh and aah and touch and I think it makes them jittery so they will shy away. Zoey is great with my kids or nieces or nephews. When we go outside and the neighborhood kids approach her she cowers a bit. It's because they are like a swarm and she is some sort of toy. SO I have taken to telling them how to approach her and to lower the noise so it won't scare her. I have also had to deter them from trying to pick her up. It's scary that someone you don't know wants to scoop you up.
