They get used to their own masters but other kids are just bundles of energy and want to ooh and aah and touch and I think it makes them jittery so they will shy away.
Zoey is great with my kids or nieces or nephews. When we go outside and the neighborhood kids approach her she cowers a bit. It's because they are like a swarm and she is some sort of toy. SO I have taken to telling them how to approach her and to lower the noise so it won't scare her. I have also had to deter them from trying to pick her up. It's scary that someone you don't know wants to scoop you up.
