| It depends on the trainer !! I saw a lady doing the training at petsmart once and she was just awful ; she had no control of the dogs at all . |

| We took their class and liked it. JJinjersey is right, they teach you how to train your dog. You also have to do your part for it to work. You can't expect your dog to learn in the 1 hr class. It's fun teaching your dog though. It took my dog about 20 minutes to get the concept of what i wanted from him and then it's just practicing. If anything, it's great socialization for your puppy. I'd definitely recommend going. I plan on taking my dog to the intermediate teaching within the next few months. If you use to search button up top and look for old threads, you'll find a lot of other members who had a lot of success with their classes. Good luck!!!

| Yep Scooter did both the puppy training and intermediate classes at Petsmart. We had a great trainer who was very creative. We had 4 dogs, including Scooter, in our puppy class and 8 dogs, including Scooter, in the intermediate class. Due to my work schedule, I had to pick weekend classes so they are more popular. Scooter learned so much and had a blast at the classes. If you want to have a smaller class, pick a time like Tuesdays at 2PM or something more random when most people are working. I enjoyed our class size and our trainer made sure to spend time with each of the dogs. I had never clicker-trained a dog before and using Petsmarts training program it was so easy. I have nothing but good things to say about Petsmart training. Now Scooter does fun tricks that are above and beyond what they taught us in the classes, all because we got such a solid base at Petsmart. Paying $109 for 8 weeks of class is definitely worth it. Plus, if you feel like you need extra lessons, you can schedule them with the trainer privately. I say go for it.

| Yea, I agree with Kallen! Before you sign up, go check out the trainers. Make sure you pick someone that's nice and works well with the dogs. I've read bad stories on this board about horrible trainers.

| Picking the trainer ahead of time does do wonders. I shopped at Petsmart a few times before signing up for classes and ended up choosing Katie, our trainer, because she was so helpful and full of advice when I had questions. Go sample shop and find the perfect trainer, then sign up once you decide who you want.

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | We signed Joey up for the puppy class, and I was so disappointed with the trainer, that I asked for another one. We then signed him up for the trick class, and for us that was a much better match. The first girl had no experience, and was being trained herself.
