| Go for runs? I know this might be a dumb question, as I know how tiny and easily worn out this breed is! But, I was wondering, if when they get to be adults, are they at ALL...able to be running dogs? I mean I only run 2 miles MAX...but I just wanted to know what you guys thought so I don't find out on my own in the future by her just sitting there looking at me like I am crazy and not budging . I just don't know how much endurance yorkies have, anyone try this with their baby? |

| I take Abbey on runs and she is fast!!! She keeps up really good too and she is only 4 pounds. We run long distances, maybe up to 2 miles at a time. But i usually take breaks to just walk bc their legs are so small so they are taking way more steps then us...therefore, they get tired more easily. i would say go for it but monitor the dog to make sure it is doing OK. And maybe take some breaks. Also if it is hot, def take some water and take more breaks. All dogs are different though, so just try not to push your dog's limits. For instance, my 4 pound girl runs fine, but my sister has a 4 pound male that cannot run long distance. He gets very tired and needs to be carried home. He also sometimes throws up if he runs for too long. So just monitor the dog, and carry your dog home if it seems really tired.

| If your sweetie ends up not being a runner, Ive seen some doggie jogging strollers at either petsmart.com or petco.com

| Our little Biggie LOVES to run. He is soo fast..he runs faster than us for the first 10 minutes and then finally slows down to our pace. We typically take him for a 2 mile run. He does great and seems happy too. |

Senior Yorkie Talker | Lola loves to run. In fact, she's the reason I run now. We run a little, then walk a little, run a little more... only for 15 or 20 minutes, but she loves it!

| I think just like with you it is a matter of training. Start out with shorter amounts and then work up to the distance that you want. Good luck...

| Franklin and I used to go on hour long walks, half of which would be running/jogging. They definitely have the ability to run for long periods of time. The most important thing is to build up to it, though. Maybe start off by jogging for 5 minutes for two days. Then add 5 minutes every two days. Build into a 2 mile run after two weeks. Their bodies work just like ours! Also, like everyone said, make sure to take breaks and bring water along.

| They are fast runners. Hope you get to run with your buddy. And stock up on water in this heat.
