Franklin and I used to go on hour long walks, half of which would be running/jogging. They definitely have the ability to run for long periods of time. The most important thing is to build up to it, though. Maybe start off by jogging for 5 minutes for two days. Then add 5 minutes every two days. Build into a 2 mile run after two weeks. Their bodies work just like ours! Also, like everyone said, make sure to take breaks and bring water along.
