I take Abbey on runs and she is fast!!! She keeps up really good too and she is only 4 pounds. We run long distances, maybe up to 2 miles at a time. But i usually take breaks to just walk bc their legs are so small so they are taking way more steps then us...therefore, they get tired more easily. i would say go for it but monitor the dog to make sure it is doing OK. And maybe take some breaks. Also if it is hot, def take some water and take more breaks.

All dogs are different though, so just try not to push your dog's limits. For instance, my 4 pound girl runs fine, but my sister has a 4 pound male that cannot run long distance. He gets very tired and needs to be carried home. He also sometimes throws up if he runs for too long. So just monitor the dog, and carry your dog home if it seems really tired.
