| Parti Yorkie Why are Parti Yorkies so expensive? |

Donating YT 10K Club Member | I have seen partis offered at what I consider a reasonable pricing from breeders I respect. That being said...the fact that a parti breeding does not always insure parti colored puppies comes into play also.

| I think the Biewer's tend to be a bit higherpriced then the parti's. At least that is what I've noticed. I myself would love to have a Biewer but I don't see being able to afford one for a very long time

| They are expensive because there are alot of unethical breeders that breed them just because they are different/uncommon and see the opportunity to charge and arm and a leg for them. Apparently people pay the extra $$, just like they do for 'teacups' so the greedy breeders profit and continue the scheme. (That's not to say that is the motivation of ALL breeders trying to produce partis.) Biewers I can kind of understand due to the need to cover costs of importing from Germany and the higher than normal amount of researching and testing breeders are doing since they are a new variation of dog. Costs have to be covered somehow. Last edited by BamaFan121s; 07-02-2008 at 10:06 AM. |

| Prices are coming down on Parti's. A few years ago, they were running 5-6+ thousand each, now the average price is in the $3,000 - 4,500 range (with some running more or less). I think it also depends on where you are buying your parti yorkies from. In general, areas in the middle of the country tend to run the least expensive, followed by east coast prices and the west coast seem to have the highest prices (but the same seems to hold true for traditional colors in those areas)? When there were only a few Parti breeders, they had waiting lists of 1-2 years and were pretty much able to get the prices that they wanted. I guess, that's how supply and demand comes into play? With this economy, prices will come down even more. I see it happening with standard colored yorkies in my area. The average prices in my area ran about $1000.00 - 1200.00 last year, I now see many more $600-700 AKC yorkies in the local paper and few yorkies listed above $1000.00.

| Parti I guess your right supply & demand $2000 sound better then $5000 for me. I am in California and if I could find a breeder that I could keep in touch with me and that would sell be one for $2000. I could later on probably do that. If you know of one. Would you concider refering me in the future. If so thanks. |

If you PM me with your e-mail addy, I'll be happy to send you a list of parti breeders that I've been collecting. Some of the people on my list, I know nothing about but at least it's a place for you to begin your Parti hunt?

Don't get me wrong, I'm sure there are plenty of unethical breeders of off colored, as well as standard colored yorkies. I don't agree with the breeders who are charging $1500 - $2000.00 or more, above what the average parti prices are but personally, I would pay an extra $2000.00 if the pup was the type and quality dog that I'm searching for. But that's just me ... not everyone seems to have that same philosophy?
