| Spoiled or just afraid? Im not sure if my Trixie~Belle is just spoiled rotten already or scared... But when I take her outside, we have to walk out our kitchen door, that leads to the sunroom, and that takes you outisde.. When you get outside you have to walk a bit in the gravel we have in our driveway and then you get to the grass... well she will NOT walk in the gravel at all... I of course sit her down in the grass for her to potty and so forth.. and when she's ready to come back in or whatever she goes over that way closest to the door, and sits at the edge and will not move even if I start going in before her -- she will NOT walk or even touch the gravel.. not sure if she's just spoiled or afraid of the gravel cause of what she may have been through at the puppymill. Daphne-on the other hand walks and prances everywhere..lol. I have even picked her up and put her down on the gravel and she just whines and lifts her legs up on me to have me pick her up!

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | I bet the gravel hurts her little feet - Maybe dogs are like some people and can be tenderfooted ? (is that even a word ???) My mom has gravel and I walked on it barefoot and OUCH....it hurt ....Maybe carry her over the gravel or make her a little path with something so she doesn't have to walk on it ? OR you're right and she is a little princess expecting to be carried |

| Maybe it is time to play Hansel and Gretel. Younguns probably don't know that classic fairy tail but they were lost in the forest, and of course, there had to be a witch someplace. Anyhow, Hansel dropped bread crumbs so they could find their way back out but a bird came along and ate the crumbs. My point is, maybe you could work with Trixie Belle alone. Put favorite treats out in the gravel just far enough away that she has to take a step to ge it. Then you stay on the gravel with lots more treats and an excited mommie-voice and call her and tempt her with the treats. If that fails I would agree with Villette and just make her the little path..maybe put down the red carpet like the dp for VIP's. After all, Trixie is special. |

| Just an idea... I have smooth stone up next to the house in my dog run, and while the dogs don't potty on them its easy on their feet as they go from the door to their area. Maybe you could buy a bag and make a path for her to get to the grass. We had a large area to cover, so we bought big bags at Home Depot (the stones are about the diameter of a quarter) but you could get a small bag of the smaller smooth stones that they sell at Petsmart for in the bottom of aquariums.
