I have 3 Yorkies . I will never have a big dog just to please peoples who are thinking a man should have a big dog .

I was raised around small dogs and it's just a preference I and some other guys have. I'm cool with what people think. I just don't get the connection. If a Dad has a short child, no one would think anything of that.

I think a man with a yorkie is HOT!!

I agree with everyone here!! My Sydney loves her daddy and he has grown to love her too!! He was a big dog type of guy but not anymore!!
He's so excited now that we think Syd may be pregnant!! He's almost like he was when I was pregnant!!

Men who feel like they need a pit bull, german shepard, or Doberman pincher, to feel Macho are pathetic. Just like when they need their cool, big cars. Geez, they are trying to compensate for their shortcomings.

When I was a kid my parents, Father.. Always had small dogs. Pom. NOw that is a foo foo dog! He was always very cool with the little dogs, and so are my brothers! BY the way one of them, who is a doctor settled for a toy breed for his family.

Kev...my brother says a dog is just like a child....carry one with you and you will get all the babes...he called the chick magnets....must of worked....he is happily married now...and believe me he is all man...and a big man at that

My husband loves our three yorkies to pieces! He kisses them and tells them he loves them everyday, at least once!!!

So interesting to see this thread! In fact, when looking to get a puppy I was torn between getting a Yorkie and getting a poodle (I grew up with poodles). I gave my boyfriend the choice and he chose to get a Yorkie because he felt they were less fru-fru. That said, his family owns a poodle/chihuahua mix, Fidget, and he loves her to death! And he fully admits that once the puppy comes home he'll love her. But he did grow up with Dobbies and maybe has a bit of a 'big dog' mentally simply because that's what he grew up with.

But I agree, anyone should be able to own any dog they want. In fact I'm super impressed by a guy being genuine and loving to an animal, be it big or small!!

The chick magnet yes ... one time I sent dh with Jolie to vet and then to pet store ... and I was saying it takes a real man to carry a yorkie on his arm in her designer bag and then the women at work reminded me how he will attract other women this way ... well I dont let him go anywhere with them without me anymore .
