A lot of people "stereotype" men with little dogs. Believe me, I let my husband take my tiny yorkie Gina and Boobah to the park by himself. He said he had heard a lady comment on Gina. She said "Hmmmmm, a tiny dog with a lot of bling and a big strong man." My husband answered "Yup, they are my little kids". He took the comment with a grain of salt. Right away people put labels on others, like, "oh, he must be gay" or "one of those". He hears it all the time. But we consider the source! These people have no lives, we go to take our dogs for exercise, not to pronounce judgement!

Boy...isn't that the truth!!!! I've been secretly thinking about getting another yorkie until my DH made a comment about another one the other day. I hadn't mentioned anything about it til then...I think I'd better JUMP on this opportunity!!!

I always grew up with big dogs and so did my husband, but when he said he wanted a dog, I expected him to want a big dog. Instead he asked for a yorkie. I was the one that said "You want a what?" Now we have two :-)

This is a great thread. I wanted to add that we have big dogs too. Two Siberian Huskies, Sid(16 post on him coming soon ) and Gabriel(9), and our Yorkie is every bit as playful and tough as the big guys. ... There's nothing small about a Yorkie's personality.

I'll tell you, we always had big dogs, the day I came home with Max, my husband fell in love with him, he was the one that put him to sleep on our bed, the one that seats on the kitchen floor every morning to feed Max , bit by bit!!! ,plays ball with him in the afternoon in or back yard, and LOVES the attention he gets every time he takes Max for a walk, so if anything, I think the man that has a soft spot for animals and cares for them is a sweetheart and a good person regardless of the size of the dog.

Talking about stereotype, my DH is a bald, tattooed, ear-pierced biker/trucker walking around with our Lexie with a pink leash. He wouldn't have it any other way. He loves all our babies.

I read your post and got a small giggle. When I made the decision to get a yorkie my husband was a little unsure. He went along with it just to make me happy. Tell you what, he LOVED that little guy more than I could have ever imagined. He talked about him like he was our kid, and he treated him like he was our kid. We both bragged about the little things like new parents do.

When we got the tragic new about JW not being with us anymore he took it just as hard as I did. When we decided to get another he was hesitant. But after a few days he is starting to get back to being entertained by the simple things these little guys/gals do to worm their way into your heart.

So, I have to say there is nothing wrong with men liking small dogs. Just because they are small they have BIG hearts! I tried getting my hubby on here, but I dont think he will go that far.

I love this post! If I wasnt married I would feel the same way. I think a guy that attaches to a pet of any size (esp little ones) shows a lot about who they are, in a good way.

My b/f loves our yorkies...BUT when we are around our friends and I mention oh yeah WE went to the yorkie meetup...he will interupt me and be like you mean the "pitbull party".....I just roll my eyes and laugh...why are some guys in denial....hehe...it cracks me up.

To be honest ... I have no clue how many Guys are on here ...

My Hubby LOVES Maya and rubs it in anytime he can ... she is a Daddy's Girl for shure and she loves to snuggle with him instead of me .... why would there be something wrong with that ???

I am a man and have Yorkies . My neighbors were letting their big mouths go , I shot them off one by one . Now , no ones bad mouth me when I take my little ones for walks .

I dunno if I come across a little fem. or not but I don't care either, Peanut is mine he was a b-day gift from my wife. He is with me all the time. He is the most loveing attentive wonderful pet I ever had. And I'v had a few big dogs growing up. All I know is he is the first pet that I can say love me as much as I do him. He's like a kid all he wants is to be with me even if I can't play at the moment he has to be at my feet. Ya gotta love em. Any way I don't care if some narrow minded clod thinks it gay to have a small dog.
