So interesting to see this thread! In fact, when looking to get a puppy I was torn between getting a Yorkie and getting a poodle (I grew up with poodles). I gave my boyfriend the choice and he chose to get a Yorkie because he felt they were less fru-fru. That said, his family owns a poodle/chihuahua mix, Fidget, and he loves her to death! And he fully admits that once the puppy comes home he'll love her. But he did grow up with Dobbies and maybe has a bit of a 'big dog' mentally simply because that's what he grew up with.
But I agree, anyone should be able to own any dog they want. In fact I'm super impressed by a guy being genuine and loving to an animal, be it big or small!! |
