But on the other side, who could possibly argue with a point based on God's standard.

If leaving your babies tails intact is what makes you happy, and what you feel comfortable with, then that is the way to go. I don't understand or agree with it, but I would never think that doing something you aren't completely comfortable with would be the way to go either. Generally speaking, I just think it's unfair to make such strong accusations against others who happen to feel differently.
Honestly I wanted to dock my babies tails too until my vet made me realize what I would be doing to my babies, he changed my mind. And no I'm not saying your purposely mutilating your babies or whatever because I understand alot of you are trying to keep the standard according to YTCA or AKC but that is what my vet made me believe. What I am saying is why does a yorkie have to have a docked tail to be called a standard yorkie when they are born with tails??? So you don't cut your babies tail off now your baby doesn't qualify as a standard??? That in my eye's is not fair to the owners of yorkies who would like their babies to keep their tails. My babies without tails are AKC registered, and when they had babies I decided not to register with AKC when told I could not show my babies if I decided to keep their tails.

I liken tail docking to circumcision . To each thier own. 1 son, circumcised, 2 yorkies docked tails! I'm sure they'd all be thrilled to know I'm advertising the fact
I know. I didn't take it as anymore than just a question.

PS...I won't tell your son.

I am not for or against tail docking, but did want to point out that in many, many countries, docking is banned, and a yorkie can not even be shown in those countries if they have a docked tail. Some of the countries who have already banned docking are:

Australia
Austria
Belgium
Brazil
Croatia
Cyprus
Czech Rep.
Denmark
England
Estonia
France
Germany
Greece
Hungary
Iceland
Ireland
Israel
Latvia
Lithuania
Luxembourg
Netherlands
Norway
Slovakia
S. Africa
Sweden
Switzerland
Italy
UK (Those found guilty of docking would face a fine of up to £20,000, up to 51 weeks imprisonment or both.)
Virgin Islands

Many other countries are currently working toward banning docking as well.

Several states here in the US, such as New York and Vermont, have also considered banning cropping of ears and docking tails.

My point is, that if one does NOT choose to dock their pups' tails you are not alone and are in no way doing anything wrong. I have seen long tailed yorkies and am owned by a yorkie with a docked tail. I think both are beautiful and both are completely Yorkie.

Agreed and nicely put. I think it's up to each individual to decide what route they want to take. I don't think it's necessary (or accurate) however to citicize those who do decide to dock under they declaration that it is 'cruel' or 'mutilation.'

Its a personal preferance. I personally like the look of a docked tail, but all puppies are cute no matter what!

Thankfully banned here in the United Kingdom since last year. I really hope the US follows our lead soon too There's nothing cuter than a yorkie tail wagging like crazy!

Although I hate having to look forward to having tails docked, until the YTCA changes it's Standards, I will be docking tails. Love the look, hate having to do them.
Nydia, I actually went to your site to see Yorkies with tails. I hadn't ever seen tails on Yorkies. I was surprised that you have the YTCA Standard and don't mention anywhere about your puppies not being docked. I respect your decision not to dock, just thought it might be important information on your site, since you feel so strongly about it. Now I'm wondering, does APRI allow Yorkies with tails to Show, anyone know? Do you have a picture of an adult with a tail. I'm curious what they look like.

Wasn't this your post about Tail docking ?? http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/bre...questions.html

From what it says - you waited too long to get it done so why all the anger ??

I can see how you may want to help someone make a decision -but why not step back a little and try to post without yelling at people ?? Everyone has their own opinions and should be able to post them ...they shouldn't expect to get insulted for their beliefs.

I personally like docked tails but wouldn't be upset if it were banned either. I just saw a yorkie in full tail just 2 weeks ago and he was adorable... but I love my girls little nubbies too - and I don't see at all what it has to do with Agility -

This album has my Chanel Flying thru the air
YorkieTalk.com Photo Gallery - Chanel Playing in the hose - Powered by PhotoPost - her little docked tail has no effect on her ability to fly -

To the Original poster - Docked or undocked if the puppy is healthy then that's what counts. Some people won't buy a puppy with an undocked tail but there are plenty that will

My first yorkie had a full tail. At first i wished she had come with a docked tail. But as time went by, it just added something to her personality!!
My second baby has a docked tail. I love it too!! It reminds me of a koaloa butt
I think it is just a matter of personal preference too.
