| Found a great carpet shampoo for pets! I tried the Bissell Pet odor and stain remover carpet shampoo. This stuff is great. It gets out the pee and smells great. If the pee is deep down in the pad, you will need to use Nature's miracle first, saturate the area. Then shampoo several times. In between, sprinkle with baking soda and cornstarch. Once the top cornstarch has dried, vacuum it up. Repeat the process until the pee is gone. This method actually got out the pee (and smell) that my cat deposited on my stairwell landing! I had been using the Rug Doctor shampoo, it did nothing in comparison to the Bissell. Just wanted to share a good find.

I have a kitty who's decided to pee in one spot in my house. I used EVERYTHING you mentioned above...plus BLEACH. Stain gone! Smell gone! CAT peed in the same spot anyway.

| I told her if she pees on the carpet again, she is moving into the utility room for the rest of her days. I'm a mad mama.

| Oh that happened with our cat too. She is in the garage much more than she used to be. We worked and worked on the spot and finally had to pull up the back of the carpet and use the Bissell on the back side as well. WE had to replace the carpet padding, and then we had to spray varnish on the hardwood where the spot was she was peeing. It finally worked, and for some reason has quit doing it in the house thank goodness. Cat urine is soooo much worse than dog......ugggg!! I couldnt live without my carpet cleaner!!

| Great Tip Thanks for the great tip about baking soda. I don't think Johnny even sniffs for a spot in the house. He just goes and when it's time to throw up, he goes right to the carpet.

| I'm in the market for a carpet/upholstry cleaner....the actuall machine. Can you all recommend the best one for the money? I'll actually be using more for upholstry than carpet since 90% of my house is hardwood or tile.

| Thanks for the info! I had been looking for something that's good at getting out pee smells/stains....with having a puppy who isn't fully trained, it's taking a toll on my carpet. lol. Also, if anyone knows of a good carpet/upolstery cleaner please let me know! The other day Capone decided to pee on our chaise....I've been cleaning it with something different almost every day since and it's still a little discolored.

Did that little talk work? May have to have a chat with mine.... Funny story...co worker moves and his dog starts urinating inside the new house. His wife is furious...but since he'd never done it previously, takes him to the vet to make sure it isn't caused by anything physical. The vet finds nothing wrong...and tells her...you need to sit him down and explain THIS is where you live now. He doesn't understand. I was like...what? Are you kidding? Really? So did you have that talk? And she said...yeah, I told him if his butt didn't stop peeing in my house...he was going be moving AGAIN.

| Why do they do this? Every pet I've ever had seems to run to the carpeting to deposit their accidents. We have lots of hardwood floors.....but nooooo....that would make cleanup way to easy!!!!

Donating YT 10K Club Member | Yeah. I usually took the covers off the cushions, washed those on gentle and let them air dry, but you could do an entire sofa with the spot bot. Or look into a professional cleaning service....here you can get three pieces cleaned for 100 bucks.

| I thought about that, but I would rather invest the money into having my own machine. I appreciate the info and I will look into the spot bot.

| Wanted to add that there is another product that works very well with stains, odors, and actually removes the scent that they are attracted to and keep going back to. It is called "GET SERIOUS", and I used it for Charlie. He never went back to the same spot and shortly after he was completely potty trained. It works so great and even gets out old stains. Petsmart carries it. Here is the website if anyone wants to check it out: http://www.getseriousproducts.com/ |
