I was one of those who waited until my children were grown to get a yorkie but it sounds like you have done the research and I am sure if you get a larger yorkie you will find a breeder who will trust you to bring one of her babies into your family. It sure sounds like you will be a responsible yorkie mom and I sure know how arrestible they are and how badly you can crave them.

You have convinced a tough crowd here so i think you will should have no trouble convincing a reputable breeder.

You will find a yorkie! I understand somewhat what you are saying. I would love to rescue a yorkie but I don't have a fenced in yard and that's a top requirement for rescues. If they wouldn't generalize and would really listen they would understand that where I live, a fenced in yard isn't the answer. There are so many birds of prey that a yorkie or small dog left alone outside is in danger! A fence doesn't do a thing about that. I take my baby out and stay right by her side the whole time, I run with her and she has plenty of freedom and safety.
You will make a GREAT yorkie mommy!

Hi and Welcome
I wanted to add that My daisy is now 11 wks old and I have a 1 yr old grand daughter that lives with Me and They are the best of friends.Of course I watch Them together ever so close and when I am not home or out of site I put Daisy in Her crate.Most days They play on the floor together and I get out Daisy's toys and My grand babys toys and They play (It is to sweet)
Again,I watch Them very close and never just leave Them together alone.I also have been teaching both fur baby and human baby to be nice because Daisy bites the babys toes and hands like She thinks She is a toy then the human baby crys and We tell Daisy no bite and hand Her one of Her toys.And so far things are getting better after a couple days of this.Good luck to You and I am proof it can work.Just watch really really close.

You do sound very honest in what you are telling us. And when I was looking for my furbaby, our breeder wanted to know if we have kids, which we don't, and we don't plan on having any.
But like someone else said, the breeder should look at each individual case and see it for what it's worth.
From the sound of it I believe that you would make an exceptional mom to a yorkie along with all your other pets, and of course your son too.
I know that there are breeders out there willing to take the time to get to know you and your family in order to place one of there pups with you. The breeder I got Deegan from visited out home twice. First visit was planned, but the second was unexpected. She didn't even tell us that she would do a "pop-in" at all. And she lived 3 hours away too.
Just have faith, and keep on looking - I'm sure you will find a breeder willing to see your view and provide a pup to your loving family.

I know you said you didn't want to do a rescue. but there's a thread on here about 10 yorkies that were rescued in Birmingham, NY (i don't know if that's close to). I believe most of the yorkies are puppies and they lady responsible said they are excently bred. this might be an option for you.

Unfortunately most rescues are even worse about the no kids part than breeders. They don't want any chance that the dog will need to be rehomed again. And she needs to be very particular about which dog she brings into her home around her child. A puppy can learn to be gentle with a child, an older one may be snappy and scared of a child.
