ok the creepiness is here again k so some of u may no that the other day i posted a thread about abby sometimes barking n growlin in the dark for no reason. well ok this happened liked ten minutes ago almost so like at midnight. wat the heck is up w that??!!! im really freakin out cuz we had a recent death in the fam like 2 weeks ago maybe. this is tooo creepy man she just started barkin n growlin but wen my b/f and i went, she was just barking at the dark. |
Not sure whether you want to hear this or not but I believe in ghosts and I also believe that animals can see them. If it happens again, open your door and tell the ghost that they have to leave because you aren't ready for them to be in your house. The ghost should leave because they are no longer welcome in the house.;) |
i no i believe in them too n now im freaked. im not letting my b/f go home. i no its silly but this kinda stuff creeps me the heck out. thank god he's here wen it happens. |
Duke does the same thing. He will start barking and growling out of no where and when I look around to see if something happened or if something made a noise I wont find anything. |
I personally believe dogs can see ghosts/spirits. |
Kuma does that on and off, sometimes i tell myself he just heard something i didnt, so i can go back to sleep, but i do believe in spirits..... |
This was before I had dogs but we once rented a house and I'd swear I could hear children laughing periodically. however my kids would be asleep napping. Also sometimes I thought I'd catch a little blond head go by, we're brunette. Sorry to go off topic. I agree with others though. I think dogs have a sixth sense about things. We live in apartments and Alphy will bark but that's because he'll hear people out on the stairs before I do, so I think he hears people moving around in their own home and gets defensive. |
ok...look here...now don't be saying that kinda stuff!!! LOL! Little Man does that when we go to bed at night before hubby gets home. He will go to the end of the bed and I mean every little hair on his body stands up. He will growl (not the playful growl either) and he will bark and he won't move at all. I'll get up and go look and he follows growling and barking. When we get back to the bedroom, he literally gets in my lap (if I'm sitting up) or he will sit right in front of me (if I am laying down) and growl. It's like he's protecting from something or someone. It's kinda freaky! I also believe in the paranormal stuff. |
I'm kind of on the fence about the paranormal but don't forget that doggies' hearing is about a hundred times better than ours. They could be hearing rats or mice. My dixie dog will go ballistic if she hears a hedgehog outside and I can't hear a thing! If they hear something like a mouse in the ceiling, they might not know what it is (if they haven't seen one before) that might explain the defensive behaviour. |
I believe in ghosts, but its entirely possible that Abby is just hearing something that you can't - a normal sound I mean haha. Maybe there's a cat prowling around outside or something. |

Creepy! we once lived in a house that was haunted and our dog at the time didnt even want to come in the house at times. glad we moved. |

Bella does the same thing not every night but once in awhile when my grandpa was passing away we stayed at his house. I stayed in the family room (pull out couch) well my grandma would always watch her soaps in there and sit on coach she passed away when I was 7. Well every night before we would go to bed bella would look at the same area in the room and wag her tail and get down like someone was petting her. My grandma loved dogs so I really believe that it was her. After my grandpa passed away bella acted really sad right when it happened I think she knew he was gone. After I got back home I was sleeping and I had a dream that my grandpa was telling me he was ok and he was with my grandma and I woke up crying. Well when I looked up there was bella at the edge of the bed and it literally looked like some was playing and petting her she wasn't scared and neither was I. It may sound crazy but I have had many paranormal experiences since I was young shortly after my grandma passed away. I really believe in it and I think dogs are especially in tune to those types of things. |

WOW! That just gave me chills! Love these ghost stories!:D |

This is a funny thread!! BUT I also believe in spirits.. But keep in mind MOST of the spirits that we would expect to have in our homes would simply be there because its a familar place, or they left something undone or unsaid.. They rarely mean any harm.. I think it would be wonderful to be able to speak to them.. |

ok had to give an update lol. after i posted last nite, my b/f went to the kitchen/dining room area where it happened. he's not the type to get scared n he will just brush it off like nuttin. well for some reason wen he went in the room he yelled, "woahhh this is creepy" n he came back into my room n had goosebumps allllllllllllll over his arms  it was about 2 am now. my lil sister went into my room n went into bed w me. sucked for abby cuz she had to go back to her bed which thank god she doesn't mind. well about ten min later, abby gets up sticks her neck out n stares at the door barking n growling againnnnnn. ok i was more than creeped now cuz there was no noise from anywhere. i turned on the light :D and tried going back to sleep. it was hard but i managed n now im fallin asleep at work  |

Jamie does this too every once in a blue moon. While I would love to brush it off as him hearing a noise I didn't hear, he is very DEFINITELY looking at something! It scares me to death. I think the reason that is scares me so bad is that Jamie LOVES people... all people. And he never growls. I can't help but think that whatever he seeing is not good! Hopefully now that we've moved to a new house he'll stop doing it. LOL! |
Wow.. Creepy yet interesting at the same time XD At least she is protecting you in a way.. :) |
Maybe it's something he smells. My Sampson can smell a skunk miles away. He'll start going nuts, barking and wanting outside. And maybe minutes later, I finally smell the skunk. |
I would love to attribute this type of thing to outside noises etc but when all 4 of my dogs stop what they are doing and stare at the same spot it makes me wonder. This topic has been brought up many many times and it never gets old to me. I think the spirit of a collie we used to own visits our house regularly. I won't go into it since I have talked about it in previous threads but I do believe in the supernatural. I also believe that we may someday have scientific evidence that confirms or disproves it. I can't wait for that day. Over all I would say not to worry about it at all. None of us know anyone who has been harmed by a ghost do we? I don't think the CAN harm us. I have often wondered if that isn't perhaps Purgatory....They can see us but we can't see them? Just a thought. |
i dont realy think they can physically harm us but emotionally yessssssss. my uncle had just moved in to his house n one night he was sleepin on the couch. anyway some "one or thing" grabbed the couch n started movin it back n forth. heck if that happened to me i wud b in an asylum right now. he said he just cursed at it (thats wat hispanic ppl usually say to do idk) n it went away n never bothered him again. wellllll he did move out couple of months after maybe thats y |

I believe in spirits too .... it is creepy that your Furbaby starts barking and growling ... and deep down YOU KNOW why the :aimeeyork is doing it .... Don"t want to creep you out but I agree with the Ladies on here ... dogs are special little creatures and if they sense something they go off .... |
Like I said in my previous post, just ask the spirit to leave. It really is that simple. They don't usually hang around when they aren't invited. So, the next time you baby is growling, just say, " Please leave, you aren't welcome here." See if it works, because I can almost guarantee it will, iunless it is an poltergist. Then it's a bigger problem but it doesn't sound like it is. Good luck! |

Interesting, interesting post. Note to OP----do you know how hard it is for us old-timers to read texting (or texing, however you spell it) shortcuts? Have to re-read everything. Goodness, it's hard to get old and getting left behind where technology is concerned. Yes, yes, I know a lot of you know I complain about this a lot.:D |

My brother's ashes were in one the rooms of our house and my Harlee would just go in there and sit just in side the room at the entrance...She wold go to the door so I would open it so she could go in...Now , a year later, and his ashes scattered at a lake, she doesn't care to go in the room...He had a head injury and she would lay on his head when he slept, so I know they had a bond...I felt comfort in her visits....(and I don't like ghost stories, but I felt it was my brother waiting to get put to rest) |

Have you noticed if her growling in usually around the same time every time she does it? I noticed in your update your mentioned something about 2 a.m. Between 2 and 3 a.m. is typically an active time for spirits. My recommindation on what to do is this. When your yorkie is doing this,it is an indication that she is sensing a spirit. (If indeed this is what it is,and I feel pretty sure it may be) When she picks up on this, say aloud "You have passed over. Please go to the Light." Then ask your angels/spirit guides to protect you and yours and help the spirit that your yorkie is sensing cross into the Light. Also ask that you and yours be surrounded in White Light. Some people that pass do not realize that they have passed or feel they need to hang around for whatever reason. Sending them into the Light usually takes care of this. If you have any questions, I'll try to help. Wishing you the best. Please keep us updated. |

Callie barks at nothing (seemingly) as well. I wonder if there's sounds that she hears that I don't hear (like rain, wind, birds, etc.) or if it's ghosts or something else. Kinda freaked me out at first, but now I just try to distract her from whatever she's barking at. |
4 Attachment(s) Next time she reacts like that... have a camera on hand... snap a few photos.... you just never know.... ;) (I think the last one looks like two girls playing pat-a-cake... the others are ... well... you decide... ;) ) |

ooo scary thread!!! Of course I see this at 1:30am when I'm the only one up! lol I agree with you guys though, and think dogs can see ghost/spirits. Sometimes Meeko stares and barks and nothing and my hairs go up! I freak out and grab my bf! lol I'm such a baby! Good luck Jessi! I hope telling your ghost they are welcomed will help! Keep us updated!! |

I personally believe in ghosts (I think "spirits" sounds nicer ;) ) and have had my own personal experience. Before you allow any fear to completely take over, try to figure out if you think this spirit means you any harm. I think that most spirits just need to be told to move on. If this could be the spirit of the family member who just passed, ask yourself why he/she would be paying you a visit. Maybe he/she is concerned about you and needs to be told that you will be fine. My nana passed away in 1996 and opened my fridge door a week later while I was crying for her on the couch in the middle of the night. It scared the holy-moly outta me and I didnt know any better then to tell her to cross over. I dont feel her with me anymore, and I assume that she found her way. My point is that whatever your dog is barking at...it may not be a bad thing. |
