| ![]() Doors slamming shut in your home due to the wind is another hazard..almost happened to my Pixie a few weeks back, my son opened the front door to someone when the backdoor was open which caused a wind that slammed the kitchen door shut..Pixie was just a few steps away from the door...I shudder to think what could have happened if she had been walking through it...boy was i mad with my son! ![]()

| ![]() Be very careful when you are walking your yorkie (or any dog), especially when you are in a driveway, parking lot or garage or anywhere that anti-freeze or brake fluid may have leaked from a car. Also, do not let them sniff around empty containers. They find it very tasty....the attached link is worth a read. http://www.2ndchance.info/antifreeze.ht

| ![]() Didn't know about the rawhide. Thanks. I'm not experienced, but the other day I found sammy licking the water from the saucer my plants were sitting in. So that might be one to watch also. I removed the saucer by the way. Also watch the dogs inthe yard to make sure they don't eat mulch or grass. Sammy got really sick once from eating mulch and it was very scary. |

| ![]() I just got a collar for my little girl. I would never walk her in it because we have a harness for that but last month she got out because the backdoor didnt shut right. Of course she had no id tags. Luckily my neighbor found her. They only saw her once. She is microchipped now. I am too afraid to put her collar on when I am not home but I dont know what to do when she gets out. She has to have her rabies, dog licence, and id info. By the time you get all that on, her head in practically dragging from all the weight. HELP !!!! Good thread though. I have had GiGi over a year and I didnt know she couldnt eat Onions!!! She ate chocolate once and I nearly had a heartattack!! I am teaching my youngest child to stop feeding her except treats but of course she is a little hoover vaccuum!!! Thanks for all the advice

| ![]() when I first joined YT, I remember a memebers yorkie ate a penny. Pennies contain zinc and that is very bad. Be sure that any change is picked up. I find quite a bit of loose change around the house.

| ![]() You cannot let them play with long yarn, ropes, leashes , dental floss etc. unsupervise. One of my yorkie named zoey got a hold of one and tangled herself under a chair, the thread got wrapped around her body and her neck. She couldn't breath. If I wasn't home that day she could have died. ![]() ![]()

Yorkie Talker | ![]() I found a collar for my 7 week old Poco at petsmart. Its a nylon woven type without holes in it. You can tighten it to any size because of this function--the metal piece just goes through the weaving wherever you want. It fits nice and snug on Poco with the recommended 2-finger leisure. And it was cheap too! Only 2.99. Michelle ![]() |

Collars can damage the trachea of a yorkie and even cause death. At least never walk a yorkie with a collar and leash - always use a harness. Plus lots of people can tell you horror stories of having a collar get caught on something and yorkies have even died this way. If you have to have a collar - get a cat collar known as a break-away collar
