Our last yorkie used a collar for 14 years. Never had a problem. Now this board has me all worried about my new one....only harnesses for walks?

That is exactly the one I bought yesterday afternoon . I got it in the red to match his new tag, I also left the bell on it, I figured it was one more way I could keep track of him.
I would never use it to walk him, I have a harness for that. The collar doesnt even have a ring to attach a leash, so just in case I'm not home, the kids wont be tempted to walk him using the collar.

I use harnesses for walking but I kept a collar on all my dogs until recently. I have owned yorkies for 5 years and nothing has ever happened with collars. We left on a Sunday for about 4 hours. When we returned Lucy who is 3.5 pounds could not stand up. She kept falling down on the floor. I paniced and started screaming for my husband. "Lucy has brain damage...she can't walk." He picked her up and she had managed to get her front leg through the collar. That is right...she only had 3 legs. It scared me to death. I don't know how long she was like that but it could have been 4 hours. I took all collars off and have never put another one on. Two are microchipped and Alyssa will just have to remember where she lives.

That is the same one that I have! lol. I took the bell out. My husband can't stand the consistent bell noise. Your baby looks gorgeous in the collar and I love the red dingo ID tag. I hope the breakway function will counter all the collar choking that we have heard of. I will do a test on it later.

His collar is not used for walks-he has a harness.

Hello My Central Coast Friend!!!

I have a collar on Derby all the time and have not had an issue at all. I do use a harness for walking him. I pretty much have him with me non-stop so I don't know if that makes a difference compared to others on here. Seems like the reviews are pretty split here. Good luck making your decision.

Also, you can get great harnesses and collars at Tails in downtown SLO. She has very cute merchandise and I love supporting our local merchants. Hope you and Mia are doing well and have a great Memorial Day Weekend!!!
