Does everyone use peepads?

Mine go both outside and on the washable pads inside. I think it is the best of both worlds. You can't always be there when they need to go outside and sometimes the weather just doesn't permit it. So a pad is there when they need it.

mine have never been allowed to go inside the house for any reason! they alwasy go outside, and it was MUCH cheaper (free actually) and it was very easy. its more natural for them i think. anyway good luck!!!

Lucky you! If Bella didn't go out in the rain she'd never get out We get more rain here than sunshine, luckily it doesn't seem to phase her one bit.

I think I will try the outside thing. I may be old fashioned, but the pee pad thing seems a little weird for me.

I would like to know if there is anything special put inside the material on the one's that are made.. is it just material or something in it that makes them want to use it..
I only used pp pads on maravilhosa.. only because we were going away for a month with with the rv when we got her.. I would not let her down on the ground.. I always trained to go outside only.. she is now going outside. and missing the pp pad..

Mine go outside also, but they will use the pee pad if the weather is too cold or if it's raining, I just keep it near the backdoor for them. They do prefer to take care of business outside though.

Mine uses both. Pee pads at night when he's in the bathroom sleeping and outside when he's not in the bathroom.

I don't put anything special on it, but most do seem to be attracted to it from the beginning. It could be because they are made from reclaimed incontinence pads from hospitals. So, even though they are sanitized and we can't see or smell anything, maybe they can. Who knows?

We have a lot of hawks and owls in the area. It is not all that safe for them to always go outside. We trained our girls to go on the pads for this reason. I will say that if they are outside they will do their business outside.

We buy our pads at Sam's Club.

I guess I am the only one that use the dog litter which is good for me. My yorkie also goes outside. I decide to use the dog litter when she was little. The vet told me not to have her outside due to her weak immune system. So I decide to tried the pads but found out about the dog litter which I enjoy better than the pads.

I use paper! We buy blank newspaper from a craft store and put it in a washing machine tray. The tray is nice because it makes them step inside of it so they don't accidently go off the paper. You know what happens, they have their front feet on the paper or pad but not the back so they miss. The paper is not super absorbant but it's definately cheaper. I know a lot of people have had trouble with their dogs chewing up the puppy pads as well. We also bought some washable pads but we use them to just protect the carpet, they don't go on them. I just know that dogs get used to the feel and sound of the paper under their feet. The disposable and washable pads can feel like other kinds of cloth so they may have accidents on something that may feel like the pads. See a picture of my little one using the paper below. We have since added a plastic lining to the tray to make it easier to dispose of the paper. My bf gets a large roll of plastic from home depot and cuts it to fit. I hope this helps.

Petsmart sells a spray that attracts them. You can also wash home made pads with anything that they have peed on. Just don't use enzymes when you wash, and even though you can't smell anything they can, and will return to the same spot. I made some out of white towels I found on sell. I just sewed them in half, and turned them inside out and sewed the last edge. They are very absorbent, and much cheaper since Joey will only use a pad once.

Both my boys are trained for pee pads and outside. I trained them for both because we get a lot of snow here in the winter, and it makes it very difficult for them when the snow is really deep. I use a doggy litter box with a pee pad in it. It's very easy to change and keep clean. I don't like paper because it has no absorbency whatsoever, leaves ink marks on the floor wet, and smells bad quickly.
