Does everyone use peepads?

Simba uses pee pads. I buy them in packs of 50 from K-mart or target. Gizmo, my larger baby goes outside.

Maggy May is 6 months old, she came to us at 6 weeks old and I've used puppy pads with her since we've had her. When the weather warmed up enough for her to go outside, she staarted going potty outside as well, no problem at all what so ever. On days it's to cold to take her out or it's raining really bad, she used the puppy pad in the house, it's the best of both worlds Personally I don't use newspaper cause once wet, the ink would be all over Maggys feet and my floor, to me, the puppy pads are much cleaner and doesn't soak the floor or leave ink on Maggy.

I have two Bichons, ages 11 and 9. They are paper trained and have been from puppies. They will use potty pads, but prefer newspapers. I have a plastic tray to hold the newspapers and protect the floor and it works great. I take the local newspaper and always have plenty of papers. My girl, Lacy, can be outside walking and playing for a couple of hours and she will wait to get back inside to her newspapers to go potty. My male, Cosmo, will potty outside and loves to mark everything in the yard, of course, since he's a boy.

If we are outside with her, she doesn't have a problem doing her business as long as there isn't any snow on the ground. Other wise we could open the door and she would just sit there and look at us like "you honestly expect me to do what out there in that cold, wet, white stuff?" So long as she is "hiding" out of sight. Like behind a tree or bush and its warm out she will go out side.
For some reason she hates it when some body sees her going to the bathroom.
She does the same thing in side.
We keep her pee pads inside b/c she would never let us know when she had to go potty. We tried the bell on the door, taking her out right after she ate or drank. We bought books and training videos, everything. She just dosn't want you to know when she has to go!

Yet she had no problem watching me or hubby go.

If we are out side she will go, but otherwise she is stelthy about when she goes and if you "catch" her while she is "going" she will stop mid pee and walk away and go some where else. She is qirky that way!

Harley is only 4 months old and I have her using pee pads. I buy the Arm N Hammer ones at Target and they are way cheaper than any other brands I've seen. ($20 for 80 count, I think).

I started her on the pee pads because I leave her at home all day while I am at work, so I wanted there to be a spot that is "okay" for her to go. She is getting pretty good at using them and is even getting pretty consistent about running from other rooms into the bathroom to use her pads.

From my understanding, she is not yet old enough to hold her bladder for 8-9 hours, so I don't want her to be doing something "bad" by going on my bathroom floor (on the pads).

One thing I have noticed is that she will still go in the same spot even if there are no pads down, which I don't get angry over. It's just tile.

She will occasionally go outside, but I am going to wait to work on that until I can expect her not to go while I am gone from the house. Right now, I can't do that.

My ultimate goal is for her to go outside to use the bathroom twice a day (morning and evening), and the pee pads for bad weather/long confinement/when I want to sleep in, etc.

Oliver is 18mos. and he started out on pee pads because it was rainy and cold when we got him at 8 weeks. As soon as the weather got nice we started outside training (we have other dogs and a doggie door). Brooklyn is about 15 weeks and she is pee pad trained (for the most part) but is beginning her outside training. She loves it outside. Soon, i hope, she will be totally outside trained. Oliver wont go on the pads anymore...he wants out to do his business.....even in the rain! So i wait at the back door with a towel to dry him off when he comes in!!
