Yorkie Yakker | Congrats on your new puppy! i was a NERVOUS WRECK when I first got Moses back in February. Now it seems like he's always been a part of the family & I can't imagine not seeing him everyday. Its the best, enjoy your baby!!! This site really helped so much too.

| Thank you so much, I'm definitely excited but I still have nervous moments and thoughts from time to time. At least, though, I think I've passed the denial stage now of "what have I done?". Four more days and I'm getting ready. I got a pen last week - an 8-panel x 2ft with a door. Dodger is completely paper trained, but being only 14 weeks, I'm not sure how well he'll do going outside. I'm planning on being with him Friday to Monday since I can work from home and starting Tuesday he'll be on his own. So I have 2 questions: Should I bother taking him outside at all since no one will be here while I'm out and I don't expect him to hold it until I return? I'm thinking of creating a "poop" area: attach a small crate to the opening of the cage and place the paper/pee pads there. This way he'll have more room to play and the poop will be confined. Has anyone tried this? Dodger PS - Piptickle, have you picked up your pup yet? How are you doing? |

| LOL. Never heard that term: "Yorkie fumes." Like it. Keep an eye out for YT vendors. They have many wonderful products. I've purchased Yorkie Yummies, cuddle beds, vests, PJs, cloth piddle pads, toys. All have been of superior quality. Have fun!!!!!!

I have Hot Rod's crate attached to the pen so that opened the pen some more. His pad with the holder is in the pen. There still is plenty of room for him to roam around in. The pen is set up by the slider to the sunroom so he can see out to the backyard and trees. Hope this helps. Can't wait to see pictures. Have you picked out a name?

| I would say, go ahead and take him outside when you can. He'll be a smart boy and learn he can go outside and on the paper or pad. Mine do both, but prefer to go outside, but the pad is down while I'm gone in case they can't wait until I get home

| Bettyanne, LOVE the braid, your baby's stylin! LOL. Thanks guys, you always give great advice. I'm going to try to take him outside the first night....see how it goes. But being indoor trained will be the focus of our first days together if he's unsure about the outdoors. I'm not sure he'll have all his initial 3 shots (he had at least 2 a few weeks ago) and he hasn't been outside yet. I just came back from shopping and picked up pee pads, more toys (how the heck do you contain yourselves???), dishes and my first carrier from eBay arrived!!! I still haven't found a bed, though, will have to hunt one down this week. Also picking up two sheets of vinyl (sp?) runners to place under the pen in case he misses the poop crate. This is exciting!!!!! My camera is ready for when I pick him up and I'll try posting pictures on Friday. Oh, yes, I do have a couple of names....but now I'm thinking that something else may come out of my mouth when I pick him up.....we'll see. ;P Dodger |
