| Potty and trip problem. Callie does not like to pee and poop any where but her backyard she will hold it for hours if we go somewhere until we get back home to go in her yard! Well when we went to WV it was a 5 hour car trip I gave her plenty of water and we stopped 3 times for about 20 minutes each and she would not go potty and when we got there she did not go for another 2 to 3 hours and she finaly peed and then after another 2 hours she pooped but did not pee the rest of the day/night nor did she pee the next morning and after about 3 hours she finaly squated to pee but I didnt notice any pee pool so I put my hand on the grass and no pee so then she never pooped that day but she peed once maybe twice and the next day our last day she peed once in WV and pooped once and then she peed once on our way back. She is going outside a lot here and useing the potty normaly now (she has a doggy door). And I'm so worried the trip made her sick or could have made her sick about not useing the potty and we are suppost to go to Louisiana in less then a month and I'm afraid she will do the not pottying thing again and I do not want her to get sick and this will be longer trip so I am willing to just stay here and forget about my cousins graduation, no offense to her I just cant have my baby getting sick. Any ideas? Or help anyone can offer would be great! Thank you.

| My dog did the same thing the first time we look a long road trip. He was 6 months old. He seems to do better with every trip we take. Make sure you take her potty the same way everytime! Don't forget to have a very special potty treat! I always say to Leo 'lets go potty', then I get his leash and a treat out. I always make a big deal about getting these items. I think she will guickly learn what you want her to do. It is just like potty training all over again...for every new location. |

| How old is she? Pepper is pee-pad trained and when he was way smaller - like 4-5 months old - we took him for a trip. The trip was about 5-6 hours - he stubbornly didn't pee when we made breaks, I even put the pad on the grass and it didn't help. He waited until we got inside the hotel and I put the pad there for him. That was familiar and he finally went. The trip back was even longer, and he kept it in too. After that, I started taking him to pee outside, and gave treats afterwards. It took a while but now he pees outside (and sometimes even poops too), no matter where we are (he still uses pad too). I'd advise to start teaching your little one to pee in other places outside than the yard...

| I had the same thing with Rocky, he was house trained and would not pee outside. If you take him for a long walk, he will do it eventually, when he does, pet him and say its OK. I remember when Rocky peed outside the first time, he had such a miserable look, but I told him thats its fine and carried on with it! |

| I had the same experience with my puppy. Especially during those first 5 months or so until he had all of his puppy shots and could not be set down anywhere in public for fear that he may get some disease that he wasn't protected from....is was a bit of a drag but we made it. He is also pee-pad trained and wouldn't go in public places even after his shot series was over. Finally a good friend of mine went away for the weekend and had me watch her yorkie at my place....yes, we had a yorkie sleep-over. Her dog is 4yrs old and completely trained...he would zip out the door and start pottying as soon as he was out, my puppy followed eagerly and did whatever her dog was doing. The other yorkie trained my puppy that it was "cool" to pee & poo in all sorts of places outside....not just the grass which is the only place he would go before. If you have the opportunity, get a trained friend to come show your baby the ropes. It sure worked for us and we didn't even plan it....

She will be a year on may 18th I even resorted to giving her a fruitloop when she would go outside in WV.
