| Same thing happened to me today in Petsmart. We were in an aisle and an older lady came in with a big dog, so I called Meeko over to me and held his leash tight. And she let her came over to me and let her dogs leash go to its end saying, oh he just wants to play you dont want your dog to play. And, Meeko is a hyper lil 5 month old and usually jumping and bothers dogs so i said no he can't play rite now and picked him. you should have seen her face, he gave me the nastiest look but, i dont like to take a chances. I know how hyper he is and he wants to play and jump. I'd rather look mean than have something happen. I think you did the right thing! I can't believe she was willing when she wasn't sure how friendly he would be. |

| A big dog(pitbull mix), on the other side of the street, on leash, grabbed my shakespeare and shook the heck out of him once. And I will never let that happen again. Good Lord!! thanks to his fur and my quick reaction. I got him out of his mouth and the damage was just a scratch and a traumatized dog. . and the owner.

My Little Man! Donating Member | If I see small dogs I first look if the dog is friendly. A lot of times you can see by their body language. I honestly dont trust people anymore when they say their dog is friendly because a lot of times they are not. I will still ask but at the same time look at the dog's body language. Maxi met a lot of yorkies in the park that were friendly and sweet. If the dog seems stressed and not friendly at all I pick my baby up I and walk away. If I see any big dogs I avoid them. I dont care if the owner says her/his dog is friendly, I am not taking any chances. Maxi is so sweet and loving he loves to play with everyone. When he sees the dog is not friendly he actually ignores that dog, which makes the aggressive one very confused.

Sorry I was so long winded, but being a former owner of ONLY large dogs, I was never aware that they could harm a little one so easily accidently. So it is most likely that the other person doesn't know.

Donating YT Addict | The only big dog that my Baby plays with is my friend's very very submissive female lab. If a big dog heads towards us I pick him up. HE goes to daycare and is well socialized but I don't know if the dog coming up to us is and I can't take that chance. I usually will say sorry he's to small to play with your dog and move on. If they take offense oh well...

| Just a quick thought, a big dog might very well BE friendly- but a misstep or a wild tail-wag can do damage too...my Chi was injured when an overly enthusiastic mastiff honestly just wanted to say hello, she's recovered but I feel that in the end my furkids safety is my responsibility and I'd rather not take that chance |

| I always pick up Sass when a dog bigger than her comes anywhere around us. I'm not willing to take any chances with her. I'm very cautious with small dogs too.

This is actually my pet peeve (no pun intended). I think it's incredibly rude to see a big dog bounding toward me and my little ones, not on a leash, and its owner yelling to me "it's ok, he's friendly". Well then, put him on a darn leash, reel him in, and then we can talk about it. I walk both my girls at once and it is very hard to grab both of them and make them safe when an unknown dog is coming toward them. Grrrr, it makes me so angry!
