The only big dog that my Baby plays with is my friend's very very submissive female lab. If a big dog heads towards us I pick him up. HE goes to daycare and is well socialized but I don't know if the dog coming up to us is and I can't take that chance. I usually will say sorry he's to small to play with your dog and move on. If they take offense oh well...
